  1. TJK, love this place!  The wait staff is polite and quick. The food is amazing!  Things on the menu will not surprise you but the flavors when you eat them, WILL!

I have been here many times and it's a true neighborhood gem. I may have even said that in my last review. Lol

What can I tell you,  love the food,  all of it. Must get that house sesame dressing on your salad. Must try the shrimp tacos! I loved my pork chops and on another visit,  the Gorgonzola rubbed steak.

It's always a nice vibe and cool desserts to match the awesome menu. Check out their desserts displayed in the front near the bar. Everybody I went with loved the flaky pastry with the fruit topping and cream. Drool.

The chocolate dipped strawberries are big and nicely plated.

You will love this place as much as I do. You will.

  2. The wait staff here deserves a standing O. As an Asian of Flushing for 20 yrs, never have I ever experienced such good service. But then again, this here ain't Flushing!!

The food was good, which I'll get to, but the waiters… freakin… waters filled instantly, and this magical thing I loved most – the eye call. Meaning no hands raised, no "excuse me, may I get a…"; just ONE glance and they got your back.

We came on Vday, under reservation, as well as around 7 other parties dining at the same time. It was snowing and freezing out, but TJK was beautifully decorated with hearts, streamers, and cute @$$ waiters xD (BF and I were rating them the whole night) Every single table was well taken care of, and you could just tell that everyone was happy.

    NOW THE FOOD-

House salad w/ sesame dressing: Do not underestimate the Asian dressing. I really didn't think much of it when ordering, but once drizzled over veggies, YUM!

Grilled Salmon: Perfectly cooked salmon with moderately flavored teriyaki sauce WITHOUT masking or drowning the freshness of the fish.  Totally worth the price!  (teriyaki sauce seems to be VDay special.  Usually served with dijon mustard cream sauce)

Bowtie Pasta: If you dislike heavy red/white sauce like me, then this is the dish for you.  My inner Taiwanese also LOVED the whole leaves of basil and how it sealed the freshness with the semi-hearty 'shroom & chicken.

Sammy's Surprise (or was it Special) dessert: Custard pastry with assorted diced fruits and whipped cream on top.  The best thing about this is that it isn't overly sweet or rich and gives a very refreshing finish to the dining experience.

White Sangria: My peeve with sangrias has always been not-enough-fruits… well that's definitely NOT a problem here.  Though at times you get less pieces than other times, but the variety of fruits offered should make you happy enough 🙂

P.S. check out their mirror wall while you're there.  such an interesting and sweet concept~

  3. You'd be surprised, from the outside this place doesn't look like much and it being called a cafe is deceiving. It is a restaurant and the food is definitely tasty. I had the pepper steak and how was it peppery and spicy, but that's how I like it. It was definitely flavorful. I also tried their white win sangria and it was sweet, light, and tasty. It was a cute ambience, but definitely a lot of older people there. But their menus are cute, they're famous people. They give menus with famous women to the men and menus with famous men to women.
