  1. We first went here on 6 Oct 2008, and they took Visa.   The last time we went here was 20 Jun 2010; apparently their credit card policy has changed: They no longer take credit cards.  Boo!

A second boo for not being able to order things ala carte.  You cannot get a single taco; you must get them in batches of 5.  You cannot get 1 or 2 chalupas; you must order them in batches of 3.  I find their restrictions on the number of things you can get needless and annoying.

    Guacamole: B-
Plain and uninspired.  Not a whole lot of flavor.

    Chalupas: A-
High quality meat (I had the carnitas).  Nicely spiced and good texture.

    Tacos: B-
High quality meat, but they still get a B- … they were some of the saddest tacos I've ever seen.  It was literally just meat tossed into a tortilla.  Granted, the meat was good, but there was no cilantro.  No sauce.  No guac.  Nothing.  Barren.  Sterile.   I would never get the tacos here ever again.

    Salmon Frito: B
Nice salmon flavor that was made even more vibrant by being fried, but a tad on the dry side.

    Churrasco: B+
Although the dish was inexpertly prepared, the steak was quite good, and the portion size was decent.  Fatty and tasty.  The refried beans and amarillo rice were tasty as well.

  2. Adam basically took my planned review of this place — apparently me making a fool of myself still isn't enough of a act to use my own stories in my reviews — but he got the crux of this right. What can I say? I like hockey.

This is a fine little place, with some seats as soon as you walk in, a bar on the right extending into more seating in the back. I'd say this is like a sidewalk cantina somewhere in Guadalajara, but I've never been to Guadalajara, so I can't claim with any veracity that it's actually a correct comparison.

Beers are cheap, and they have real Mexican Coke* with real sugar, in addition to all the other drinks you'd expect.

The guacamole was good — that was the only food we ordered. Chips were kind of stale, but all in all a good place.

    * – In a bottle. Made by Coca Cola. No need to bring a drug war into Yelp.

  3. I will always remember this place, as while sitting at the bar, Danny asked the bartender if we would be the biggest gringos in the world if we asked them to turn on the hockey game. He stared him back, straight in the eye and with an extremely serious tone says "Yes."
