We stumbled across this little grocery store / enoteca to kill some time before a movie at the nearby theater and we were so happy with this find!
The wine bar (through the store) is small but cozy and comfortable. Drinks are reasonably priced (good wine under $15/glass). I got a sangria for $8 that was great — not too sweet and still strong.
Excited to come to this hidden gem again! I also want to try out some of the cheeses they have available in the store.
My love for todaros has grown fonder by each visit.
I order from todaros regularly for corporate/ business events. Everyone I've fed their salmon is completely converted to todaros catering. The staff is always super friendly and accommodating from the person taking my order to the person delivering. I've had sandwiches and and their amazing pie, cookies, meats etc etc etc, (NEVER DISAPPOINTED ALWAYS IMPRESSED) But tonight topped all take out experiences. Stopped by for happy hour and was pleasantly and astonishingly surprised by their enoteca. Delicious eats, wine selection and music. Yes! The music was spot on. Eclectic to the max. Anywhere from 80's to 90's all my weird quirky bands I love. The serving staff said they would tell the owner how much I loved the music but really, we really really loved it. As much as I want to keep this place under wraps, it probably will be the conversation piece through the new year! GEM
This place has very good sandwiches. The spicy combo is delicious!
My only complaint is that ordering sandwiches is a little confusing. There is a section to order cold sandwiches, but there doesn't appear to be an area to order hot sandwiches. (I had hoped to order one of the paninis/hot sandwiches I saw on their Yelp menu). I asked if they could make a chicken parm sandwich and they agreed, but they seemed a little thrown off by this. I think the hot sandwiches are normally reserved for those eating in their restaurant. The chicken parm was ok, but not as good as the spicy combo. I would stick with the cold sandwiches – you can't go wrong with one of them!
This place has some really good food, it's small(cozy). We did order a lot of choices because it all sounded so good and nothing disappointed! Only bummer was we ordered a few things as apps and were told they were kind of busy and might not get the food all at the same time (we sat at the bar, this was the bartender only person serving). Well we got all our food, at the same time…everything! So it was a lot of food all at once. But it was all delicious and because we were starving by the time we made it out looking for food, we managed to eat most of it.
They look to have a nice little market attached too, that my cousin said was there first and the dining are just added. A nice place to stop for a drink and snack or a quick light dinner.
Wow! I just moved into the neighborhood and lucky to have this old-school, Italian shop nearby. It is a very small shop, with reasonably priced Italian specialty pastas, meats, veggies and fruits, and cheeses. It has a small and well maintained prepared food section as well.
The employees were friendly, and the place had an old-timey, relaxed vibe that is a pleasant respite in this ever-changing city. I got the sense that besides the credit card machines, little had changed in decades inside this store.
I purchased freshly made Todaro Bros. spaghetti, fresh mozzarella, pesto, crackers, cheese, grapes, and tomatoes. Everything was delicious, and although it was not as cheap (of course) as large grocery stores like Fairway, it was very reasonable for a small, local market. The mozzarella was one of the best I've bought in NY, and was reasonably priced.
Also, note there is a small restaurant attached. I did not dine there, but it sounded like a great, reasonably priced option for basic Italian fare.
Would highly recommend this store for your Italian specialty grocery needs!
I was in the area and looking for a good, fresh Italian sandwich. Thanks to fellow Yelpers I found this place and so happy I did. I wandered into the market and had a difficult time deciding what type of sandwich I wanted. All the meat looked very fresh and the two men behind the counter were very friendly. I decided to go with the Italian Combo hero which was made right in front of me. Well worth the wait for this homemade sandwich as it was packed with several different meats, cheese and other toppings. One of the best sandwiches I've had in a while and extremely filling (I was only able to eat half). I can't wait to go back and try another one!
This place is an absolute gem in this neighborhood. Starting off with the store – a wide array of meats and cheeses, as well as pastas, olive oil, dressings, etc.
Now to the sandwiches – easily the best in the area, and I even venture to say some of the best in NYC. The hot salami combo is my favorite. Comes with tomato, arugula, ham, hot sopersatta, oilve oil and a generous dash of ricotta. Very unique and undoubtedly delicious.
Prices are reasonable for the area and what they offer.
We have been eaten their sandwiches for group meeting for years, surprisingly not tried yet. I ordered a salmon melt myself yesterday for pick up. I was amazed by the shop size and variety of options. It is not a normal sandwiches place, as you can purchase almost all cold cut and cheese you can name. The sandwich is OK, not bad. The salmon is mixed with melted cheese, but I think I saw a piece of sushi in there. It also comes with a tiny but freshly made salad. $10
