Food was mediocre. Nothing was hot and many things didn't taste super fresh but I also know I'm spending under $20 for a buffet. They do have a good variety of sushi rolls, so if you're craving some rolls, this place is pretty good. I would say the meat there is pretty gross though! It was very tough. I felt like everything was reheated over and over again. I probably won't be going back.
If this place had not been located literally 20 steps from my hotel in Secaucus, I would have probably skipped it. There's not much to say here, it's a hibachi place tucked into a strip mall, with decently large portions, too much butter, and minimal flavor. I would recommend any of the plentiful national chains within walking distance, but if you're dying for some heavy "Chinese" food it would be fine.
One of my fave buffets ever. Maybe the 2nd one. For $20 during the week, you can get an overkill of food to choose from. If you love sushi and seafood—this is your spot. Theres other asian influenced dishes that are not seafood to choose from- chicken to noodles to meat. I am not a fan of their desserts. Their dessert are gross and really small. However, the drink prices are very reasonable and not to mention..the food tastes good. even the sushi is decent!
When this place first opened, I felt the quality of the Buffet at Tokyo Hibachi was much better. Unfortunately over the years this establishment has been going downhill.
I feel the price for this buffet is definitely reasonable, but the food is overall average across the board. However, I will say that the nice touch is that during dinner they will offer some lobster and crab legs. I say for the most bang for your buck, you get these and feast on them! I will say though that these just taste decent, and nothing special. The sushi is nothing to rave about, and is sub-par, but it is what you would generally expect from a buffet. Compared to a few years ago when this place opened, I would having that feeling of somewhat enjoyment while eating this food. Now it feels I'm just going through the motions.
I do have to say though the service has been consistently good for me whenever I was here. So at least they take care of you on that end.
Lower-moderate food in terms of freshness and taste, and moderate selection. I didn't try any of the deviled eggs because there was a bug maybe the size of a quarter of a penny skittering on the plate holding the tongs.
There's a fair selection of ice-cream for an Asian buffet, but the ice cream was almost completely out and borderline soup.
I did however appreciate our server's diligence in getting our plates– on more than one occasion she attempted to take a plate that was still being eaten from.
The women's bathroom also strongly smells like a cherry lipsmacker, so take that how you will.
One if the cheaper end buffets so of course you get what you pay for. Foods especially the sushi aren't the freshest. Taste kind of bland too. Fair amount selections of desserts and ice cream. They'll still let you in in between their lunch and dinner hours and charge you lunch price.
The food at Tokyo Hibachi Asian Cuisine & Buffet is awful. I cannot believe we paid $22.99 per person to eat here!
My coworkers and I were in Seacaucus for a food show and wanted to grab dinner near our hotel. I was against eating here, but my coworkers outvoted me so I got stuck eating here. I tried nearly everything on the buffet in hopes of finding something edible, but I ended tossing out everything I tried. The sushi was absolutely horrible! I tried some of the hot dishes, but everything was bland and overly breaded.
Skip this buffet!!!
Checked out this place. I personally do not care for HIbachi because I feel like a baby bird on a nest waiting to get fed. You walk in and the restaurant is divided into two sections. The left side has a buffet bar and the right is the Hibachi. At the entrance they have what I think once was a very nice looking coi pond but now it's just a murky penny wishing well with coi in it. On to the experience!
we were sat ( literally, the waitress moved the entire table so that there were no empty spots) our order was taken. We picked Steak and Tuna. The cook came out and did his HIbachi thing. First up was the fried rice, followed by fried noodles then a mouth full of sake for me shot across the table into my mouth. Protein was next then veggies. Overall the food was good, prices were ok. steak ran about $22 and tuna about $28 i think. Kids pay $10. I felt the waitress was a bit rude but whatever. One and done for me but for those young-ins that want a date night in a different spot i guess this can be that.
