There is a reason why Tombolino has been around since 1977. Located in the great city of Yonkers.
These guys know how to make you feel special. The owner Pietro is available to shake your hand and personally thank you for coming in.
The staff are warm and attentive. The Bronzino was made to my taste very little fanfare yet tastes amazing. I tend to eat fish and veggies so it's important to me that they get it right. I don't eat steak or any treated meats. Potato croquettes was also a nice treat.
They also have a great space in the cellar for group parties. I can't wait to have a group meeting here.
I'll be back guys.
Don't let the unassuming decor fool you. While you could easily pass by this restaurant, and the interior probably hasn't changed since the early 90s, Tombolino is worth a visit if you're in the mood for some flavorful Italian food made with a little TLC.
First, you MUST order the caesar salad. Even if you don't like caesar salad, make sure someone in your party orders it because the preparation alone makes the visit worthwhile. Each caesar salad is assembled table side, as the [cute and charming] waiter whisks together the traditional dressing right before your eyes…egg, anchovies and all! You'll soon understand why an authentic caesar salad is worth the wait.
For entrees, the chicken scarpariello was tender and not overly saucy and shrimp scampi was delicious as well. The linguini with white clam sauce was prepared well, however, I prefer when the clams are mixed into the sauce rather than sitting in shells on top. Don't skip out on dessert, as the Italian cheesecake and cannolis are homemade and worth every calorie!
