Tony’s Pier Restaurant

“But, really that fried shrimp is really good.”

“You can go to Johnny's too, they're equally good, but they don't serve oysters so Tony's gets the upper hand there.”

“They also give you 2 cups of salad an order of French fries with every order & plenty of tarter sauce .”

  1. In a visit to NYC we had to make the pilgraage to city island. Ranted & raved about it, to the kids to Tony's as johnny's had no parking. Everyone got fried shrimp, except my daughter's friend who got broiled shrimp and me who got fried scallops.

Let me start by saying this place IMHO isn't like pre-fire (around time of hurricane sandy). It's organized chaos!! There's a line for broiled food & a line for fried.  You'll see bunches of people standing around, but they're waiting to pickup their orders. The broiled line moves dreadfully slow as they don't take more orders until they deliver so many, so be prepared to wait for the "healthier" option.  The fried shrimp were a crowd pleaser as were the broiled, well flavored. The scallops, well let me say this, I ate them because I paid good $ for them but I'd have been happier with a fish filet sandwich from McD's
    No Bueno!!

  2. The seafood combo for 30 bucks is huge!! It can easily serve 3 people or 1 really hungry man! Lol

The fried flounder filet was bland.

But everything else I tried was delicious.

I would recommend getting the soft shell crab or the fried lobster! Yum!!

The Red Devil drink was really strong and definitely worth every penny.

The sangria was sweet and light if you're looking for something fruity with a tiny kick.

Place gets packed but the lines move quick, just hate that there is a separate line for everything!

    Seating indoor and out.

  3. I came here because Johnny's across the street was closed for the winter. I regretted doing so as the menu is incredibly limited and what we did order was not up to par. We ordered the fried shrimp for $15 and got a few little shrimp drowned in french fries. The shrimp were not deveined and still had bits of the fins fried along with the rest. I'm afraid to think of what the place looked like and what the food was like before they renovated. I was thoroughly unimpressed and do not plan to return again.

  4. I have been coming to this resturant since i was a child. So i had to take my young nephew and my nieces here.

Ever since the remodel i have felt a saddended that they didnt try to retain some of the old look but things must go on.

The food is still as good as it ever was. The prices are always decent compared to some of the other resturants up the road. And you can always count on a seagull trying to taste how good your food really is.

  5. I know what you're thinking: "oh cool! A bunch of friend seafood and OH! Corn on the cob! Salad! You can't possibly mess that up!"

WRONG. This place is one word: appalling. I thought City Island was good for its seafood… absolutely not the case at this joint. The corn on the cob was MUSH. I'm not even joking, it tasted like it had been soaked in boiling water overnight. I couldn't take more than two bites because it didn't even taste like corn anymore!! Also it came dripping in a soup of butter! BARF.

And the little side salad… I think the dressing they heave on top is thousand island? Tasted like a thousand island dressing from a thousand miles away from earth.

Check out the photo I posted of the fried fish, which my boyfriend ordered. According to him, it was extremely tasteless and just tasted like fried crap. He hardly could finish even one piece. The worst part about all this? Our total for a corn on the cob and fried fish…. almost $20. Oh, not to mention this place is so disorganized and you need to order specific things in specific locations. GRRRRRR.

DO NOT COME HERE. This place is neither cute nor fun. Nor delicious.

  6. Been coming to Tony's Pier since I was a kid, has the best seafood!! There is indoor and outdoor  seating which is great because when it's nice out the outside seating is great. However it does get crowded because it's so famous that you will have to go when it isn't busy.  I got the fried shrimp and it was great. The shrimps are great size and it comes with fries so it will definitely fill you up. A bit pricy but worth it. Also it's cash only so forget the credit/debit cards.

  7. Alright straight to the point with this one !

The location is great because it over looks Pelham Bay and you see beautiful sailboats passing by whether you sit inside or outside on the pier.

Its nothing fancy but definitely filling and fun to dine with friends or family

The staff was very friendly and the prices were OK , you're pretty much paying for the location because its in CITY ISLAND which i personally think is way overrated.

The food was ok , not great and not terrible just ok . Its simply fried seafood , personally i think they should sprinkle some old Bay on their fries to add a kick but instead they just serve them plain.  (Boring and very bland)

You can grab it to go and park out on the pier and enjoy from inside the car while you enjoy the view or sit within the restaurants inside or outside seating .

Anyway its definitely not worth a long drive but if you're near by , you should give them a try .

I think my vacation in Cape Cod a couple of years ago spoiled me with the great , fresh seafood out there . Now its hard for me to enjoy it anywhere else lol

  8. Come HUNGRY. Portions here are huge! If you don't like grease and fried foods, you may not want to come here. I ordered the broiled salmon in an attempt to be somewhat healthy, but it was slathered in oil, and the corn was swimming in butter.

The food was eh.. I found myself salting everything. And the giant portion sizes were a bit of a turn-off for me. The place is huge with a casual atmosphere – small bar, some arcade games, outdoor seating. I suppose it's a good place to come hang out with a big group of friends but not so good for a nice sit-down dinner.

Nothing about this place really made me say "wow" to be honest!
