Tony’s Pizzeria & Restaurant

“The upstairs room is great for any group size and the back room is great for a memorable dinning experience.”

“The cheese was oozy and the ziti is not cooked to mush, the tomato sauce has a nice pop and I think there is a ricotta mixed in at the bottom.”

“Obviously, the locals come for the family style, homemade italian food and not the decor.”

  1. This place is super old school, the decor is dated from the inside to the outside but that is part of the charm. Corona used to be very heavily Italian but now just has a few remaining shops like Mama's across the street. To sum up, it's basically a very straightforward, no frills pizzeria.

    The food:

Baked Ziti with Meat Sauce- The baked ziti is where it's at. I think the baked ziti plain is probably my fav thing here. I tried it with the addition of the meat sauce and it was good but I prefer without. The cheese was oozy and the ziti is not cooked to mush, the tomato sauce has a nice pop and I think there is a ricotta mixed in at the bottom. This is a pretty classic, well made old school Italian American dish.

Garlic Knots- They were meh, they were kinda oily and on the hard side. The flavor was OK, but there was not visible garlic to be seen.

  2. Dined here with a group of 25 people.  We were seated in the back room.  The space itself looks a bit dated and is nothing fancy.  Years ago, I always enjoyed Tony's food, so either things are not what they used to be or I now know what good food tastes like.

Everything was served family style for our group.  The highlight of the meal was the bread basket.  Two kinds of bread were served warm and were really good.  We started off with an antipasto salad that included olives, lettuce, peppers, salami, mozzarella and soppressata. It was quite good.  Next up was fried calamari.  The calamari was large and tender, but very bland.  There was no flavor to them at all.  For the main course, we had Rigatoni with Vodka sauce, Chicken Marsala, Chicken Parmigiana and Eggplant Parmigiana.  The rigatoni was OK, a bit overcooked with a heavy basil flavor, which isn't the norm for vodka sauce.  The chicken Marsala, was just not good.  The chicken and eggplant were better, but not great and they definitely felt like a little bomb in your tummy.

Service was average, but for me the food doesn't warrant a return visit.

  3. I came here to get a quick slice of pizza. The pizza was good and so were the people working here.

Might go back to try their pasta next time.

  4. I have great memories here as my family and I frequent this place my entire life. Tony's sauce, is the greatest red sauce I have ever tasted. Hence, the best baked zitti belongs to Tony's pizzera. I had attended many functions here and the staff had been more than accommodating. The upstairs room is great for any group size and the back room is great for a memorable dinning experience. Day time is best to come and afterwords walk across the street for some homemade pasta
