  1. Yum yum in the tum tum!

This bagel shop has been here for a long time. I knew when I walked in I would experience something completely new. It was my first time coming here since they renovated. I believe they had a small fire but I could be wrong. Regardless of why they renovated, this bagel shop is beautiful.

It is a great place to order something to go because they only have a few small tables. They open very early and it is a popular spot because it is conveniently located near the Long Island Railroad train station. I ran in here to grab breakfast 20 minutes before my train. Although they had a long line and had me sweating nervously, they still managed to help serve everybody quickly so that I could catch my train.

This bagel shop has a huge variety of breakfast items on their menu. I decided to keep it simple with a sesame seed bagel toasted with butter. My stomach was happy. The outside of the bagel was nice and crunchy while the inside was soft and doughy. My cousin ordered ham, egg and American cheese on a plain bagel. In his country they do not have bagels and he was super excited. Top hot bagel did not disappoint.

We ordered two hot coffees to go with our breakfast. I did see they had a machine that squeezes fresh orange juice and it looked really good. Next time I will have to try that. I just can't survive without my cup of coffee in the morning.

Our entire breakfast cost $10.50! A great deal for breakfast. They only accept debit card for orders over $10.

As I anxiously a waited my order, I looked around and saw a variety of bagels, baked goods, and different cream cheese spreads that I would never think of.

I will continue to support the local businesses in my neighborhood. They are the heart and soul of the community.

  2. Jesus christ these are some of the best bagels I've ever had.

I used to live in the area and now one of my co-workers does. We had a ridiculously early meeting she volunteered to get the bagels for and came here and none of us have shut up about it since. The bagels we get from others places suck now! Every time someone tries to bring them in from elsewhere we complain and ask for THESE bagels. Specifically the onion or garlic, oompf.

And the cream cheese is amazing. Jalapeno bacon rocks my freakin world (skip the garlic herb though, it's like a dill bomb went off in there).

    Nice work guys!

  3. I ordered a sausage, egg and cheese on a bagel here and it gave me a pretty bad stomach ache at work. The bagels aren't very fresh I'm assuming. I prefer the bagels from Bagels and Bake down the block over this place. Another thing I dislike about Top Hot Bagels are their unreasonable prices for just a breakfast sandwich. The guy at the register seems to just think of a random magical number and that's the price I gotta pay for a breakfast sandwich. The line here moves really slow when there is 3 or more customers waiting to be helped.

Verdict – Nice corner location. Other than that, I would just skip it and eat elsewhere.

  4. I don't consider myself a bagel connoseur, after all I am Irish and German, however I was quite pleased with my bagel from Top Hot Bagels on Bell.  I had an Everything toasted with butter and jelly and the inside scooped out.  My man had a bacon, egg and cheese with extra bacon well done on a plain bagel and he was in Heaven.

I hear they are in competition with Hot Bagels down the street.

  5. I liked the gritty feel of the place before it was renovated but the babies of the world need to be catered to (and half will still complain). Needless to say, their bagels are top notch then as now (though chocolate chip bagel not so much). Just a wonderful place to run in coming down Northern Blvd. Also have generally liked the staff. Usually don't bother to tip at counters but for some reason always want to and do here. In sum just a good reliable New York bagel!!!

  6. I had a really bad experience at Top Bagel today. I usually have good experiences, with the wait time and whatever I order, and I enjoy the vanilla coffee here. However, today I was really disgusted after I ordered a coffee to take on the LIRR and added half and half to it (from what appears to be a new milk dispenser). I took a sip when the coffee cooled down on the train and it was filled with lumps. I opened the cup when I got to work and found lumps of what I assume was spoiled half and half in my cup. DISGUSTING!! So, I had to throw out my coffee, hope I wouldn't develop food poisoning, and work without caffeine. Definitely not a good combination. I'm wary about returning to this establishment after this incident.

  7. Love love love this bagel store. I usually stop by before work so I'm always in a hurry. There's usually no or very little wait and all the workers are very quick and attentive. Bagels are always fresh, and the variety of cream cheese offered gets me coming back to try each one! My favorite is the scallion lox cream cheese!! So yummy

  8. I usually come here to Top Bagel for their ham (or sausage) and egg on a roll sandwiches, which I think are filling and delicious.

When there isn't a long line, the wait time for my food is reasonable (around 5 minutes or so), and the staff workers are very friendly and know my face at this point, since I go there quite often. Top Bagel is packed during weekend mornings based on my experience, but not during weekday lunch hours.

Note that even though Top Bagel closes at 5, their grill closes at 3, so I can't get my hot sandwiches after that time– only bagels are available towards the end of the day.
