  1. I went here with my fiance for a quick and solid dinner. The food is tasty and the woman helping us was a sweet heart. The place over all seems a little "diner" esk. Nothing bad about it but little bland on the atmosphere for Ridgewood. Their Ramen sizes are pretty standard. They have a small menu but they seem to do a lot of the menu well (we tried a few apps and each others Ramen). I'm originally from the more northern Bergen county area (near fort lee and pal park) where the Ramen is packed with flavor. Tori Ramen seems to be more geared towards the mass market. Great spot for a quick craving crusher of Ramen but I'll probably schlep my way to the dive spots by my home town for a more powerful kick in taste buds Ramen. Either way you should try this place out, its definitely yummy. I just prefer a little more BANG in my bowl.

  2. I consider myself a ramen snob just because I feel like I have had some of the best around. I came here on a Saturday night and was seated right away. We ordered the spicy pork buns and a mix of the two types of wings they have. Honestly both the wings and the spicy pork buns were on point. Very good! The wings were crispy without being greasy and the pork buns were tender with the perfect amount of spice to them. For main course I ordered the chicken ramen which was not exactly what I expect from a ramen dish. The ramen reminded me more of a chicken noodle soup which was really disappointing. My husband had the the seafood ramen which was super fresh and had good taste without being overly salty. Overall I was personally disappointed with my chicken ramen but I am willing to give it another chance.

  3. I'm always excited to try a new ramen shop!

    This place inside is very clean and modern (interestingly the chairs are still those from Muscle Maker Grill, which stood there before). My friends and I came on a Friday night at 7 pm and there was thankfully, no wait. We were seated in a nice little booth.

    For appetizers, we tried the pork baos (buns) and they were really good! I highly recommend them.

    The soy garlic chicken wings came with the finger protectors and were really crispy. The sauce on them were delicious also.

    Then for my main, I got the Tonkotsu Ramen, which is a pork bone broth ramen. This was really good. The broth was very tasty. The noodles weren't as good as some other shops I've had it at. But still pretty decent.

    I do wish they came over more often with water. Sometimes you had to flag them down.

    After all this food, you'd think I was overstuffed and in pain? Nope, I felt great! Every thing was portioned out just right and the prices are very reasonable.

    I would definitely return!

  4. Tori Ramen is probably my new favorite place for ramen in New Jersey! Admittedly, I haven't found any ramen places outside of New York that have blown me away (until now).

    My whole family came in for dinner on a weeknight, including my elderly grandmother who uses a walker to get around. The ladies working here were very friendly and helpful. They held open the door for us as we guided my grandmother inside, and even put some tables together to accommodate our group of five, so that my grandmother could get in and out with ease.

    We were pretty hungry, and ordered a few appetizers, ramen, and my grandmother had a stir-fried noodle dish along with a small bowl that my mom shared of her seafood ramen.
    The fried gyoza and takoyaki were really good, but the standout here was their fried chicken wings. If you've had Korean fried chicken before (and I really hope you have), you know the deal: Delicious, super crispy, large wings, that are fried to perfection, and then coated in your choice of sauce/glaze. We went with the soy and garlic sauce, but unlike the sweet sauce they serve you at places like Bon Chon, this sauce is savory. I think the savory sauce is great. Just know beforehand that the sauce is not what you're used to if you're a fan of the typical Korean fried chicken places. Then I have to mention those little plastic finger protectors that they give you when your chicken comes out. These things are ingenious! You can eat every bite of their delicious chicken without getting your fingers all sticky.

    The ramen here is really good. You can choose from soy based broth, miso based broth, seafood, and others. My dad really enjoyed his spicy chicken katsu ramen, and my mom loved her seafood ramen. I was actually really surprised with the amount of seafood they put into that bowl. There were mussels, squid, shrimp, scallops, and fish balls. A great deal for about ten bucks.

    Downtown Ridgewood looks really great. I'd love to come back when it's warmer out and take a stroll around to check out the little shops, maybe stop by the Ben and Jerry's for ice cream, and of course get some more ramen and chicken. Now I don't have to split my cravings for ramen and wings into two separate meals; I can have the best of both worlds in one meal here at Tori!

  5. Like anyone on a cold winter night, I decided to go for some hot ramen. I've been to Blackbeard Ramen before which I personally thought was great, so naturally I compared this place to Blackbeard Ramen.

    I came here on a Wednesday night with my husband and the place was empty. The decor for the restaurant was nice. Booths along the sides of the restaurant and regular tables in the middle. Along the back left side resides the register, the kitchen, and the bathroom. Coming here on a weeknight is definitely ideal for those who want to try the place out without it being too busy on the weekends. There was one guy in a booth and a small family in another…and then there was myself and my husband. Both parties left shortly after our food came so we had the restaurant to ourselves basically by the time it was 630pm.

    Staff: I can't really say much about their service because it really wasn't busy at all. If the waiter/waitress can't serve 3 tables, then you really shouldn't be a waiter. Anyway I would most likely follow the reviews who have been there on a busy night where they're able to comment on the staff's friendliness and efficiency.

    Food: Came out quick. We ordered the 9pc wings which is double fried, in a soy garlic sauce. The wings were delicious. I've had my fair share of double fried wings and this place is exceptional for those looking for this type of wing in Ridgewood (there's a few locations in Fort Lee that has double fried wings, I'm sure). When you order wings, they give you these plastic finger protectors to keep your fingers from getting dirty (I call them finger condoms)! I ordered the seafood ramen which consisted of one shrimp, one hard boiled egg, a few squid tentacles, and about six to seven mussels. My husband got the Katsu noodle which was basically your choice of pork/chicken katsu in a bowl of noodles. Both noodle bowls were good, but the seafood ramen is much more tasty when it comes to broth and the texture of the noodle. The Katsu noodle bowl was sort of plain in my opinion… the broth was ok, a little watery and the noodle seemed like something I can get at a local asian market.

    Although my seafood ramen was good, it seemed like the type of noodle used was something I've tried at Mitsuwa (for those who don't know Mitsuwa, it's an awesome Japanese supermarket located in Edgewater).

    Overall the place was ok, I wouldn't say I'd be dying to come back, but if I'm in the mood for ramen and I don't want to cook or drive all the way to Fort Lee to get my fix, I'd come here. I would most likely come back here with friends on a busier night to REALLY determine how the restaurant runs when it's busy.

  6. Came here for the first time on a week night with a friend on a rainy day (that's the best time to eat ramen imo). Upon walking in, the restaurant was pretty empty, probably only one other table there the entire time we were there.

    We got the spicy wings and teriyaki wings to start. The wings were huge! Both were good but now that I'm looking at the menu again on Yelp, I think they overcharged me, I had 10 wings but it cost $18 and it looks like that's the price for 20 wings. Oh well. If I were to get the wings again, I would just go for the spicy ones – it has a lot more flavor. Extremely crispy and breaded if you are into that and very juicy on the inside. I love how they give you finger gloves (for your middle finger, pointer finger and thumb) to eat wings here. It was the first time experience for me and I think every restaurant should have this. Less mess and your fingers won't smell like sauce afterwards.

    I got the Tonkatsu ramen for my entree but I wasn't too impressed. When it first came out, I thought the portion size was on the smaller side and the broth was very bland. I like pork in my ramen to be very tender and the egg yolk to be barely cooked. The pork I received here was on the tougher side and they might as well just cooked the entire egg. I don't think I would come back here for the ramen, but I'd definitely come back for the spicy wings and perhaps try the pork buns.

    The service was excellent, but that could be because the restaurant was empty. Overall, the restaurant has a pretty nice ambiance – it's very clean! Parking isn't too much of a hassle – it's free parking after 6 PM on weekdays on the same street.

  7. Ramen & Chicken?!? What an interesting combo!  

    Tori Ramen & Chicken is a place that has a nice size and it was pretty empty when I was there with my friend.  Service is was not bad as it should be since the place was empty so there were no problems there.

    We started off getting the chicken wings and tried the spicy and teriyaki wings.  We got drum sticks which were a good size and what I liked was that they give you plastic-like finger gloves that you place on your middle finger, pointer finger, and thumb so your hand does not get messy!  This was ingenious!  I would come back here alone to feast on chicken and have these gloves.  The chicken themselves were good, as they are breaded and crispy, the way I like them!  If you can take spicy, then get those, as I did enjoy them better than the teriyaki.

    As for the ramen, I got the pork katsu ramen.  The bowl I got was pretty small and I was not very keen on the portion size.  In addition, the broth did not taste anything special.  I also felt the egg I got was a little overcooked.  The katsu itself did not taste bad and I felt it was the best part.  They do have other selections of ramen and maybe I just chose the wrong one.  I will say though that my friend did get the Tonkotsu ramen and she did say it was average and was not too special.

    The gloves for the chicken are a win though! Every restaurant needs to have this!

  8. Updating my initial review from the soft opening- We get takeout from here (at least) once a week. They do a good job of having everything ready so you can double park and run in to pick it up.

    The ramen is still not my favorite in Jersey (still Menya in Fort Lee) but it's ok. They do a really great job of packing the ingredients separately so it doesn't get soggy by the time you get home to eat it. We usually get the pork katsu ramen.

    But the true highlight of this place is the fried chicken. It is truly craveable. Crispy breaded fried wings or drumsticks, your choice, with just the right amount of spicy or sweet sauce. Writing this review is making me want to order it.
