  1. Since I moved away from Clifton so many years ago I never had the opportunity to go to Toros. Last week during a visit my niece suggested we go since she had been there before and loved it. I can see why. First, the décor is stunning and the overall atmosphere is wonderful. It's like being in a restaurant in the Mediterranean. You forget for a while that you are in NJ. The service was excellent. They did not rush us to place our order even though they were crowded. The calamari appetizer and the hummus appetizer were delicious as was the red lentil soup.

Their kebabs are awesome. We had veal, chicken, lamb and beef. All tender and cooked to perfection. They served rice, bulgur wheat and grilled tomatoes on the side. After our meal we sat for a while and talked and again they did not rush us out even though their waiting area was packed. We will most definitely be back.

  2. Tried both Chicken and Lamb Kebabs and they are both pretty good.  Price is very reasonable and this restaurant will take a large groups as well.  Had a few company outings and they have been very courteous all times.  If you are feeling for some Turkish food, try Toros.

  3. If you are looking for delicious, mouthwatering Turkish food, this is the place!  The atmosphere and food will make you feel like you are dining in Istanbul!  As a Syrian, I am very critical of my middle eastern food and this is one of the places that never, ever fails to deliver and impress.

I suggest starting with some appetizer dishes.  Both their cold and hot appetizers are phenomenal.  Their hummus, eggplant sauce, lebni, and Sheperd salad (get it with the feta, you won't be disappointed) are great.  They give you some delicious bread which I think is from the oh-so-yummy Taskin bakery across the street (see review).  If you want to be daring, order the fried liver.  It is absolutely amazing.

The entrees are all great too, I suggest a combination dish so you can get the best of everything, the doner kebab is a shaved lamb and the adana kebab is a ground lamb kebab.  The combination dishes come with rice and grilled vegetables.  The kebabs with yogurt are really unique and tasty too, a little heavier and rich but also to die for.

If you have any room left after the appetizers and entrees, order some baklava with turkish coffee and your life will be complete!

  4. I don't really have another Turkish restaurant to compare Toros to but I'm going to hand over the 4 stars because I had a yummy meal.

My coworker took us to Toros for our dinner break. We decided to take the order to go(time constraint). I would definitely come back and have a meal here. Very inviting atmosphere …nice dim lights/ wood decor. The restaurant had a large bar, plenty of seating, and the hostess was really kind. They also have valet parking. The people there all spoke Turkish and my coworker confirmed that it was indeed authentic.(you know those fake restaurants that claim they are authentic but aren't).

The prices on the menu varied-.from $4 all the way to $28 for larger entrees. I tried the Sigara Boregi ($6.95)-Pan-fried crispy filo dough filled with feta cheese, parsley & dillI. They were really good. As my entree I ordered the Shrimp Kebab-Grilled jumbo shrimp served with steam vegetables and rice ($21.95). The tray was huge but the amount of food, I don't think was enough to share with someone else. I wasn't a fan of the rice so I didn't eat much of it but the shrimp had lots of flavor–squeezed the lemon all over them and the vegetables and I was set!

Toros has other locations (New Milford/ Paterson) so I'm guessing it's doing well!

  5. The food is great, no complaints. Servers are nice, not too fast or slow. The lamb kabobs are excellent so is the shepard salad with feta. I'm normally picky with Mediterranean food but this is on point. Make reservations for weekends.

The chicken kabob was a little under cooked for my liking but others loved it.

Get the sampler appetizer to try some good dips.

Best bread I've ever had in my life! Must have it when it comes out warm!

  6. Overpriced and the food was forgettable. I like this location the least out of the three locations.

  7. I've never been to a Turkish restaurant so I don't know what authentic Turkish food should taste like but I really liked this place! Yebni (think tzatziki sauce but slightly thicker) is delish and can't wait to have more at another time. I had the Tavuk Sote (chicken dish) and was not disappointed. Also can't go wrong with chicken kebabs. I will definitely come back again.

  8. 12.99 lunch special ended up being a pretty good deal. One appetizer (all vegetarian), one entrée, soup or salad, and a drink. Not too bad especially if you're looking for a social place to grab lunch with friends on a weekend.

The entrees were on point – our party ordered a variety of chicken, lamb and beef dishes – all were cooked well-seasoned and relatively moist (apparently the beef was somewhat of a disappointment in terms of dryness, but still pretty good per friend). Soup with their complimentary bread is AMAZING. I can't say enough for the bread – crispy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside. Appetizers were good but if you're a pure carnivore you're outta luck.

Only disappointment was that only American coffee (not Turkish coffee) was included as part of the lunch special. However, everything else was good and service was pleasant, even though we had a hard time flagging down our busy waitress at times.
