  1. Popped into Tortilla Flats with one my friends after we toured the new Whitney Museum. I loved this place because in the fancy area of Meatpacking it's the perfect spot to go that isn't expensive or ritzy. It looked like there was going to be a wait but since there was only two of us we got a table immediately. The energy in Tortilla Flats is great and I loved the music that was playing – oldies and throwbacks. The decor in the restaurant is really fun, too. Lots of lights hang from the ceiling and its an overall great vibe.

We both ordered a spicy margarita on the rocks. Jalapeño peppers in your marg is always the way to go. We split the most delicious nachos, too. They came out on a plate and we both first thought it was a place of lasagna… HA. The chips were COVERED in cheese. Like they couldn't breathe. Omg it was so good though. Super filling. So Nachos for dinner. Great.

  2. The food here is super cheap and the atmosphere is very "bar like" it's a small cute little Mexican restaurant. I give it only three stars because the drinks are pretty weak. I had two margaritas and three shots and I'm still able to type this (LOL)

The food is good I went with the nachos and those didn't disappoint. They're made a little differently than I've ever had them but again they weren't bad at all.

Our server was okay. She seemed a little more interested in making side conversation with friends rather than being worried about us ( her table).

All in all its a cool little place if you're in the area.

  3. This review only pertains to the bar service and the margaritas. Our bartender was attentive and on the money. Great margarita pitchers, but with the cheapest tequila option at $40/pitcher, they damn well better have been.

The bar itself is a total dive, the men's bathroom smells like the sewer, and the random glitter suspended from the ceiling is enough to give you a headache, but you'll probably have one anyway the following day.

  4. Went here with some friends to grab a bite to eat for dinner on a week night. The place was packed, but we were lucky to grab a table on the patio.

To start, we got an order of guacamole and a tostada salad. The guacamole was decent, but nothing to write home about and the tostada salad just seemed like a random jumble of ingredients.

For my main meal, I decided to go with the chicken fajitas. While the platter was absolutely massive, the chicken was overcooked and a bit challenging to eat. The veggies were all cooked well, but the chicken overshadowed them.

For drinks, I had a spicy margarita and even added strawberry to the second one. Both of the drinks were excellent and had the perfect amount of sweet and spicy.

Overall, dinner on the patio provided a great atmosphere. In addition, the service was friendly and attentive and the pricing was super reasonable. Unfortunately, the food was very underwhelming.

  5. Awesome margaritas. Came here for a birthday celebration. Good music, good vibe, it just gets very crowded on friday night but other than that, had a great time. Would love to be back.

  6. This place is a clear choice for locals or people who want to start their night pumped up! The atmosphere, the decor screams: WE MEAN FUN! Since they don't take reservations you're guaranteed to wait. If you are happy to hold your ground it's a great start to the night. We ordered a pitcher of frozen strawberry margarita for $40 – Delicious!

We waited around 40 mins for a table, and happy to be seated we were happy to start with complimentary chips and salsa. I was surprised how flavorful the chili queso was and the waitress kept the chips coming!

We asked the waitress if they could do their 'special' they don't have anymore : the Ernie Burrito. the best Burrito in the city! And the kitchen made it for us! so great! It's steak beautifully cooked with tomatillo salsa and cheese inside. rice and beans outside.

    SO GOOD!

  7. Cutesy dive bar in the area! They have random drawings (looks like from one of their kids) taped onto the ceiling. The lights and decor they have around are fun. It was a tight squeeze for our group, we had about 12 people. Luckily, there were only two other people there; it wasn't too crowded. The food is good and so are the margaritas. I'll definitely be back if I'm in the area!

  8. Came here late night on a Friday with some friends. Things this place is good at- heavy handed margarita pitchers, playing good party music, and delivering an overall fun atmosphere.

Do not even bother with the food. It's overpriced for what you're getting. The burrito in my combo platter reminded me of the ground beef I got on taco Tuesday's from my elementary school cafeteria. The majority of the food (especially the queso) tasted like they dumped cumin all over it and in it.

I'd come back here for another margarita pitcher!
