  1. I think I had an out of body experience while I was eating here.

I took my visit to Los Hermanos very seriously. I don't/hadn't frequented bushwick often, so it was a big event for me. I knew exactly what I wanted when I arrived.

It's a very cool, super Brooklyn spot. It's both a tortilla factory and a restaurant, so it's essentially located inside a garage. For me, it makes the experience even cooler and more authentic, even though I'm eating tacos thousands of miles from Mexico.

UM. The enchilada picada is one of the most delicious things that's been in my mouth ever. It's a perfect flavor combo, tons of avocado, amount of sour cream. And you NEED the enchilada meat which is the 'spicy pork' and SO good. I don't even want to try anything else on the menu because I don't think anything more delicious could exist.

Please come here, bring your friends, grandparents, boss… Not sure it's possible for anyone to dislike!

  2. I had three types of tacos regulares. Chorizo, chicken and steak. They were so good,so tasty,so savory. This place is a factory and don't act surprised at the sights and sounds of a tortilla machine extracting out tortillas. Here is how my experience went down.

1.Go up to the counter, jot down your name, the menu items you want.

    2. Sit and wait,it takes patience.

    3. The waitress will shout out your name, with your order.

    4.Enjoy…Nom,Nom,Nom,Nom.

The place is spacious, but on late night weekends it gets filled with drunkards or extremely happy stumbley people. Your best bet is to go on a weeknight. Did I forget to mention that is BYOB. Although me and my lady did not BYOB, we were offered, and of course I never turn down free B's. It gets four stars because I had tacos at places with generous amounts of meat,or maybe I am spoiled. Overall, Tortilleria Mexicana Los Hermanos is cool in Los' book, four stars for this Starr Street venue. So check them out.

  3. This place is really cheap, but the wait is much too long for what they're making. Half an hour for three tacos? Bof. Also, the only taco worth having is the steak. The chicken and the chorizo and the pork were all pretty meh, and had the distinct taste of cafeteria mystery meat. At least the steak was browned a little bit and seasoned better so there was some textural contrast.

I would not make a special trip to come out here, but if I were starving and my tastebuds were indifferent late at night, I wouldn't rule this out.

  4. Tortilleria Mexicana Los Hipsters is a Hipstery taco place which serves actual Mexican food, but caters to the predominant demographic in Brooklyn these days, or so it seems: bearded people who enjoy locally sourced ingredients while wearing vintage clothing.

They make their own tortillas and Bourdain came here, before he married Iggy Pop in the final episode.

The food is good. Again, New York hasn't nailed Mexican food too often its efforts, except for Tortas Neza in Jackson Heights, perhaps, and Mi Espiguita in Queens.

The ordering system is weird, and overcomplicates things in my opinion.

I enjoy the tacos here, but I don't love them. They're worth a try if you're a Mexican food afficionado and want to sample every south-of-the-border incarnation in town, or if you want to meet lots of bearded customers. And that's just the women.

And if you want a tortilla, you should go to the tortilla-area.

  5. Good tacos.. Tortillas are delicious.. I think a bit overrated.

  6. Stumbled onto this place while biking around bushwick, and holy shnap, was it a dope experience.

First of all, $2.50 per taco. What what?! food trucks are more expensive than that. And this is like, a big ass spot, stacked with plastic chairs and locals with their byob 6 packs and tall boys.

The food arrived pretty quickly and damn, big portions. There's so much flavor and filling in each chicken, pork and Carne Asada taco. The medium and hot sauces help for an extra kick, but really it's optional.

And this is such a cool space to grab some noms, kick back and chill with your peoples. I'll definitely be back.

  7. Great big seat-yourself space and fresh tacos that are delicious! If I'm ever nearby, I would come again. I especially love that they have mini tacos 🙂

  8. This place does tacos the right way! Homemade tortillas, and delicious fillings! My favorite has to be the vegetarian taco (yes, no meat, but so good!). Worth all five stars!

fyi, pretty unique ordering system. write your name and order on an index card and place on the counter. When ready, pay for your meal and enjoy!
