Pretty typical diner options here. I ordered the grilled chicken caesar salad for lunch to go. The staff was very friendly! I was asked to choose between the regular caesar salad and the lunch special, but when I asked what the difference was they couldn't really give me an answer except to say that one of them might be bigger? They were both listed at the same price ($12.95) on the menu. The salad was enormous and came with a side of mixed fruit which was nice. Chicken was extremely dry but was a decent portion, as was the rest of the salad. The lettuce was chopped up very fine which was a little hard to eat with a fork, and the dressing seemed mayo-heavy. Everything tasted decent though, and the portion was large enough to save half for the next day. However, the salad was tossed in dressing (which I'd prefer) so it was naturally a little soggy the next day so the bigger portion wasn't as much of a bonus. I'd probably come here again for some diner food because its close to work, but it's nothing extraordinary.
Classic diner in midtown. Went for breakfast – much to choose from! Great service, accommodated 8 people. Mostly everyone got an omelet, eggs, and/or toast. My dad also ordered pancakes for the table which were my favorite! Our waitress was great, it looks like a family owned restaurant which I always like. The food is okay – I've had better diner experiences but if you're in the area it's not a bad stop for some breakfast that will be sure to fill you up!
Typical diner. Small location. But it's family owned and operated so everyone knows your name *Cheers theme starts playing*
I like to come here when I can't think of what else to eat (yes, I run out of food options in the city). Plus they know me here so I barely have to order most of the times that I stop by.
I had lunch there today with a friend. Since I wasn't real hungry, I just ordered sweet potato fries. The price was $4.95, but the serving size was quite substantial and they were really good. A man who I think is the owner told me he made them himself, and the man at the cash register was equally friendly. Our server was also very friendly and we were able to sit there for quite a long time. We had a window table and it was very pleasant. Also, the menu is HUGE.
Their hours: 6:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. on M-F and 6:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. on S/S.
Townhouse Cafe has diner charm. I have never been disappointed by the food or coffee, and this is my go-to weekend breakfast spot because it's reliable, fast, friendly service.
What I also like is the diner-sized portions at diner sized prices. Silverdollar pancakes come in a heaping pile, and the waffles with ice cream use real ice cream that is fresh and delicious. I also like any of the Greek specials.
Townhouse Cafe isn't going to win any food awards, but it's not trying to. A neighborhood staple, the only improvement would be 24 hour service.
