Trader Joe’s

“the location is really convenient for me, it is big, has a ton of stuff and doesn't feel as cramped as the one near union square.”

“It has high ceilings and large windows that make it never seem cramped, even when it's packed.”

“The building used to be an old bank which was converted into a Joe's so the architecture is brilliant.”

  1. I've been to many other Trader Joe's, but this one is by far the absolute best Trader Joe's I've been in. The staff are extremely friendly, the lines move really fast, and they stock their items accordingly. I've never had a problem here, but I would like that they add a wine section. That's the only thing missing from here.

  2. Selection overall here is good. No wine is the big issue here, which makes me make a stop next door which is tough with bags already in my hands. Nothing else to complain about here. Line moves extremely fast and is easily the most efficient grocery store as far as system structure I've ever see. Thumbs up over here.

  3. I would never come to this store on a weekend–SOOOO crowded, but during the week, it's great.  It's not a huge store and aisles are narrow, but they have great foods and good prices.  The lines are sometimes long, but move quickly.  Great selection of flowers too.  I just love Trader Joe's!!!

  4. Lapin and I go to this TJ often as we live nearby. Like every other TJ, the prices are affordable for certain things, specialty items, beer, good quality produce and stellar customer service. They almost always have huge lines but they go by pretty quickly. Plus side, the lines are near the sample section, so go ahead and get that sample 🙂

  5. I love Trader Joe's. It took awhile to readjust to how Trader Joe's operates in NY being that I grew up where Trader Joe's originated, in Pasadena, CA. But now that I have, I can at least say that this location is my favorite of the ones in NY. I don't know how they managed to grab ahold of this beautiful historical building, but it definitely adds to the appeal of coming here.

Grocery shopping at Trader Joe's is just easy. There are a lot of kitchen and fridge staples, and quite a few fun to have or try items. Prices are great, and faces are friendly. I like to come here to stock up on easy produce for salads, pantry items like rice and pasta, bananas!, soy milk, and detergent/body wash. Then I always tend to add in the extras like carrot juice, hawaiian style bbq chips, chile dried mangos, mochi ice cream, etc. It's pretty fun to shop especially if you know when to go to avoid the crowds, and also if you have someone to tag-team the line. Even when the lines are long, it moves quickly.

  6. Loved this TJ!! Has nice selection of products as all TJ locations do. Really liked the extensive beer/cider selection. I was worried however about the check out situation here.. Brooklynites go crazy for the organically and locally sourced products, and TJ traditionally delivers on this, and very competitive prices. The line when I entered the store was wrapped all the way around the store. Upon completing my shopping, the line had shrunk to only a few people. Really perked my interest on how they managed this!!
They use a 'traffic controller' at the head of a mini 3 lane stall at the head of the last aisle of the store, which had no products, completely dedicated to cash registers, lined up both sides! When a cashier finishes up with a customer, and they've departed, he/she steps into the aisle center, and hold up a flag with the register they are working. The 'traffic controller' then dispatches the 'next' waiting customer from one of the mini stalls. Awesome and Very Impressive system to bring order to the chaos!

  7. I revisited this Trader Joe's yesterday for a marketing presentation I am doing for class around 10AM and wow I couldn't believe how fast the line was and how crowded it was already.

I finally took notice how personal, fun, and helpful their signs were. They really put a lot of  creativity and thought behind their signs and marketing. Everything is fresh and affordable here.

Although they are building another Trader Joe's at City Point on Fulton Street which should alleviate some of the crowdedness from the one in Cobble Hill, I honestly think they should open one in Bensonhurst. I would shop there all the time!

  8. Great selection of food with decent prices compared to whole foods. You do need to do your homework not everything is Organic or GMO free. That means read your labels folks. I'm in love with their artisan water it taste great.
