  1. This Trader Joe's finally opened yesteday! A sorely needed new location for TJs, this makes living on the east side a bit easier.

Also, today has been a scorcher, and the basement air conditioned space here is the perfect way to slowly enjoy grocery shopping in cold comfort.

  2. Just opened last Thursday in the Kips Bay /Murray Hill area. Replacing, yes, replacing Food Emporium!  Who knew!?  NY grocery store politics… These are quite the tumultuous days of grocery empire competition.  It almost rivals election year 2016, but no one really eats Cheetos anymore (Red Dye #2 etc).  We are health conscious, aren't we?

I suppose Trader Joe is primed and fit to take on nearby rival behemoth, Fairway, on Second & 32nd, a block away.  There are differences in their wares for purchase. We must acknowledge each has their unique brand and mission.

TJ has the usual assortment of enticing, delicious and  devilishly seductive products. Temptations beckon us in every aisle.   We are glad to have this new option in the vast wastelands of Murray Hill,  besides the dreary Gristedes across the road…
Prime time real estate flipping in the food market biz are a sign of the times. Just smell the gluten free, dairy free coffee!   Honor the Omega 3!  We are living the fresh organic era!  Could a Kips Bay Whole Foods be in the cards?

  3. The best Manhattan trader joes yet. Same great trader joes quality and selection and prices. Wide open freezer aisles (escalator underground so it's much less cramped than other TJs). Plus it's closer to my apartment though that's probably not fair to count in my review.

  4. This new location is awesome. Unfortunetely when everyone in the neighborhood finds out about its opening it will be packed to the gills as always. But until then its nice and empty. Its also designed in a way that can handle large crowds so when it does get crowded it may still be ok save a few skinny aisles.

Its downstairs via elevator and escalator so its nice and cool down there for summer months. Lots of space around produce and meats cheeses which is nice.

The place has the usual selection. Lots of staff around to help you locate stuff. And they are always eager to give suggestions.

Pretty good beer selection compared to some I've seen at other trader joes. However this locations has no wine or liquor store attached.

Checkout aisles are crowded but the people working them are very pleasant.

Bring your own reusable bags (or buy them there for $1-7) and every time you use them you get entered in a raffle to win $25 gift cars.

Overall this new locations is great. Its going to change how i live and eat in the area. Will be going back weekly for the rest of my time living in the vicinity.
