They have a huge selection of wines and even their wines are pretty inexpensive. I'll gladly go out of my way to stop by here and pick up a couple of bottles. Their staff suggested wines are usually a good deal and I trust Trader Joe's opinion a lot.
I'm a big fan of their $3 Charles Shaw wine. You really can't beat that price! The White Zinfandel is rather sweet, but refreshing if that's what you're looking for. I mostly buy their white wines (Sauvignon Blanc is my favorite) and they're really great for making sangrias during the summertime.
2 words: Cheap wine. Come early or come late to avoid lines!
Great, decent priced wine! I love that there are labels to tell you which wines are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Grigio…etc. It makes searching for wines much more quicker! What's better than picking up wine? Knowing next door is a Trader Joes! Wine & Dine, you just made my life much easier!
The people who work there LOVE their job. They tell you the truth about the wines and help you pick out something new. The wines are priced SUPER competitively and are really good. I love their Riesling and I buy a new brand every time I'm there and have yet to be disappointed.
On Sunday it doesn't open until noon, but feel free to hop on over to the normal TJS shop for some coffee and a snack (ie their sample of the day). You'll probably find something awesome you didn't know existed.
Trader Joe's Wine Shop is probably my most visited shop in NYC (and my check-ins attest to it), and why not?! now that my new work place is a block away from it, I now practically come here every day to pick up a bottle for dinner.
The wine selection will blow your mind but not necessarily empty your bank account. The staff are so nice, like Santa's little helpers. As a New Yorker, I really love my wine in liberal quantities, and Sen. Ted Cruz can hate me for that!
Two Buck Chuck! But now $2.99 Chuck!
Sometimes the Trader Joes next door to this TJ wine shop has a line out of the door, so why not come in here to take a shot of wine (yes a shot). They give out free samples from 1pm to 8pm. They have the store really well organized by wine type and most of the labels are easy to read. I like that they have Norton Reserve here if you're are looking for a decent Malbec from Mendoza. I wish they had a bigger selection of Pinot Noirs from Oregon, but they have Erath which is ok. They don't have the super fancy wines here, so just ask your personal sommelier or wine vendor if that's what you need :p
Though it is slightly out of my way to come here, I always make the effort. In my 20's I used to love me some 2 buck chuck. Now that i'm older, I try to avoid the horrible hangovers it causes and spring for the "expensive" $4.99 bottles. 😀
Even though this store can get crowded, it is never unbearable. The selection of wine and champagne here is massive and all very, very affordable. They even have $3.99 bottles that are drinkable.
They do free tastings on weekdays usually around 4-7pm. Though the lines here can appear long, there are at least 9 cashiers working at once so you never have to wait long. Even though i'm clearly way over 21, i've always been carded here, so have your ID on hand. They also deliver if you need to order cases etc. This is always a much less stressful, quicker shopping experience than the TJ food stores.
