  1. The Baby Brussel Sprouts are very garlic-E, which is always a beautiful thing unless you are kissing a beautiful person in which case – maybe order a different Green.  Foodwise: I would not recommend ordering (garlic/non-garlic factor aside) is the flatbread pizza.  It wasn't cooked well and just had an odd consistency.

The House Cabernet of the night was very good (my friend attested to the Pinot Noir- I don't drink that stuff so I can't say) although both wines were on the pricey side.  Trading Post also boasts a great Craft beer selection (Peak Organic IPA, Lagunitas, a couple of different Ciders).

Overall decent service when you sit inside or out.  I do have to complain about the fact that I asked for hot sauce three times, yet never received it; twice to the same person and another time to the runner.  Can I live without it? Sure – but mama likes it spicy….. There is usually a wait for outdoor seating, so try to get here early if that's what you are looking to do.  Otherwise, inside is quite capacious.

  2. Solid place for dinner or brunch in Fidi near the seaport! The outside area is great for enjoying the weather and the interior lovely and upscale. Had my first taste of burrata here, and would say I had a very good impression of the dish! Brunch options come with a complimentary cocktail, and you can't go wrong with the dinner selection. Definitely added Trading Post to my rotation of nice restaurants in the area, and always a good choice for date night near home.

  3. Fun little place to check out in downtown NYC.  Historic feel for this bar that sits across the street from the East River, it's definitely a fun place to go for lunch or drinks and a quick bite after work (if you're in the area).  Food is good, not great and a little on the pricey side, but you're in for a nice time if you go.

  4. Just came back from here on a Friday night. It wasn't too busy but it was exactly what I was looking for. All in – I dropped $40 thanks to a generous tip on a $14 Kentucky Mule (not on the menu) and a $16 Trading Post Burger. Service was the tits (as in amazeballs… as in great!). On Fridays you'll likely run into the power bartender duo Emily and Natasha. They're super friendly and arguably the best bartenders in NYC. Correction: The last statement cannot be argued.

    Service: (5/5)
    -Friendly warm service
    -Two charming bartenders

    Food (4/5)
-The burger with Vermont cheddar and hand-cut fries hit the spot. Not the BEST burger but very good

    Drinks (5/5)
-I only enjoyed one cocktail but they use quality ingredients (e.g. actual fresh lime juice and quality ginger beer) and make them strong so you get your money's worth

    Ambiance (5/5)
-This is super subjective but I loved that this place was somewhat low-key on a Friday night. Some folks were enjoying the NBA finals but weren't too obnoxious. Some were on a date at the high tables near the bar. I was at the bar just enjoying the unassuming crowd and playlist.

I look forward to hitting this place up again in the near future and recommend it to my Yelpers!

  5. We had a great experience here. We came in on a week night around 8pm, and it was pretty quiet. Trading Post is a bit off the beaten path for locals but was worth the visit. We don't go to the South Street Seaport area much, and never even knew this was here. We were greeted and seated promptly in a cozy booth area. I was a little surprised how dark it is inside, but it is maybe even a bit too dark for good date lighting. Not sure if it is any brighter in the daytime, but I would hope it is. Our waiter was super adorable and friendly. They have a pretty huge drink menu with tons of draft beer and wine. Beer started at $7 and wine $11 and up. After ordering a bread tray was brought out with everything from whole wheat to raisin bread. These were amazing as was the butter that came with them which I assume was hand made. To start we had the Caesar salad to split which was beautifully plated and huge. It had the added touch of warm breaded anchovies which I had never tried before, but loved. Our entrees were crab cakes and the burger and fries. The burger came out perfectly done and everything was delicious. The service was perfect. Definitely worth the visit if you are in the area.

  6. We walked in and were warmly greeted and seated by the host during happy hour (4-7pm). At 6pm, the place was already crowded, but we were able to snag the last bar table.

The server came over and took our drink orders promptly. When she returned with drinks, I noticed we didn't have a food menu. At that time, I asked her for one, which she brought. Unfortunately, she didn't return to our table for over 25 minutes (pretty sure there was one server for entire bar area). By the time she did, we no longer had time for food.

The happy hour wine was decent at at $7/glass is in line with other area happy hours. They also had craft beer on special for $5. They offer happy hour cocktails; however, I'm not sure what the discount is (they're normally $15).

It's pricey ($$$), but I'll definitely be back to try the food – everything we saw looked great.

  7. The Seaport/FiDi area gets pretty quiet on the weekends, but my boyfriend and I still like to take a stroll around from time to time due to its proximity to where he lives. Plus, on a nice day, it's always fun to be outside and by the water. There are a lot of new developments coming in the area, but Trading Post seems to be one of the staples of Seaport.

BF and I opted for a table outside. There is a decent amount of outdoor seating however you may have some interaction with passersby. I personally enjoyed the people-watching but if you want more privacy, indoors may be better. However – be warned… the inside is extremely dark to the point where I was actually a little uncomfortable… and I am usually pretty tolerant of dim lighting.

Anyways, the menu has a ton of variety – great for picky eaters. Everything is reasonably priced by New York standards too, and we were happy with the portion sizes. They also have a $40 3-course Prix Fixe dinner that was fairly tempting. Saturday = all-day Happy Hour specials on wine, beer, and a couple cocktails which was another plus in our books.

I got the Pork Belly Tagliatelle Carbonara while BF got the Sesame Crusted Tuna. We also got the poutine as an appetizer, which was HUGE and came in a cast iron pan. The carbonara was delicious… pasta tasted like it was freshly made and the poached egg was perfection. I also can never turn down pork belly. BF enjoyed his tuna – the sesame crust especially.

Service was prompt and friendly. All in all, a nice experience and I would come back.

  8. Located around South Street seaport!
Popular spot for tourists, for happy hour for corporates
big bar, lots of space, traditional decor

walked in for late lunch, they have a 4pm menu for happy hour, small bites
but we went with the lunch menu

    1. steak burger
big juicy steak, it was really good. even the fries are amazing
    2. mushroom risotto
mushrooms are amazing, sauce is decent, but the rice is not good, it was not soft rice like most other risotto dishes would have, it was pearled barley instead of rice. and i did not like it

    service was soso

would recommend to come here for drinks. if you are looking for a afternoon snack, good place too. but a proper lunch/dinner, i would not recommend.
