  1. Peace Pasta is an old fashioned Italian restaurant with awesome old school dishes. My favorite is the veal marsala, but everything rocks here. Calamari linguini with clam sauce. Lobster ravioli mussels and on and on and on. Delicious. I love this place. The ambiance is like being back in the 50's. You definitely can relive your past by coming to Pesce Pasta

  2. I came here for dinner on a Thursday night around 7. The place was pretty much empty only another table or two. Its a small and cozy place like most of the West Village restaurants. Their specialties are definitely fish in my opinion.

We had two entrees, a seafood risotto that's mostly done with Mariana sauce and one of the fish specials the Striped Bass with broccoli on the side.

First, the free bread was nice and the olive oil they have went with the breads pretty nicely. The entrees I thought were not bad. I definitely like the fish plate a lot more than the risotto. Risotto the sauce just didn't seem quite right. The fish however were cooked really nicely where the sauce isn't too overwhelming but also enough to bring out the flavor of the fish.

They gave us free biscotti cookies as desserts which I thought was nice. Because of how empty the place was we had really good service. Overall I would say 3.5 stars despite the not so spectacular risotto. If you do give it a chance definitely try their fish recommendations I think you'll like it. Price wise isn't too bad either not more expensive than other Italian restaurants around the area.

  3. Had dinner with a friend here last night –

Food: Of course, free warm, toasted bread (white and whole wheat) with self-serve olive oil and balsamic.  Delicious as always.  I ordered linguine with clams and white sauce (which by the way, I have to point out, is $2 more expensive on the menu at the restaurant than on the menu online).  The linguine was the right texture, not too firm, not too soft.  What I found weird, though, was that the clams didn't actually come with the shells like I am used to… there were about 4 small-sized clams on the shell and then the rest were large clams cut into pieces.  The ones on the shell tasted too much like the ocean for my liking.  As for the cut up ones, they weren't quite as gamey and the texture was decent.  The white sauce was tasty though!

Atmosphere: Loved it!  The restaurant is not too big, and it's nicely lit and cozy feeling.  I, for one, am not a fan of "mood" lighting.  It's a bit noisy but not to the point where you must yell across the table to speak.  Overall, loved the atmosphere of the place.

    Service: A+

  4. Back in 1999 my nephew and I were looking for a place for dinner before a concert in Greenwich Village club. We walked around the neighborhood and came upon Trattoria Pesce Pasta. It was early and they had a table available so we went in and were promptly taken care of.

The food is your basic red sauce Italian. Properly prepared everything was tasty and served in a timely manner. I took my wife there a week later and she also enjoyed their cooking. A few weeks later we had my daughter's 16th birthday party here. They were able to accommodate our party of 10, everyone had a good time and the dinner bill came to $225.00 including tip very affordable for such a large group.

Fast forward 16 years and we still make this our go to Italian joint in NYC. Be sure to ask for the daily specials. If the osso buco is on the specials GET IT you will not be disappointed. They also make a very good chicken rolletini with a mushroom sauce this is also not to be missed. I've had their veal dishes and the veal parmigiana is my go to dish. The chicken parmigiana is another of my favorites. All dishes come with a side of pasta or a sauteed vegetable.

In my 16 years of eating here the staff is still the same. Arsenio is a wonderful host and always greets us with a warm and welcoming smile. If you find yourself in the West Village stop in and have some of the best and affordable Italian food in NYC.

  5. We had the best meatball in our lives here. It was so light, so airy, so flavorful. Sauce was perfect, sweet and not acidic. You get two meatballs to an order with spaghetti. Really, really good. We went at lunch time and the place was not full at all.

  6. I decided to meet a couple of my friends here on a Sunday night, just to have a good meal with some wine so we could all catch up on life. And? It was a fantastic choice.

Trattoria Pesce Pasta doesn't take reservations, but we had no problem walking in at around 6:45pm. The servers shuffled a few tables around and built us a cozy table for five. The rest of our party wasn't there yet, but my friends arrived within 15 mins or so. The restaurant is small, but doesn't feel cramped. The walls are decorated with an Italian-nautical theme, which makes much more sense when you remember that "Pesce" means fish! It was warm & cozy & candlelit, & just perfect for a snowy Sunday evening with friends.

Once they all arrived, we hunkered down with the menu & wine list. The menu looks small, but looks can be deceiving! Our server rattled off a long list of specials, which mostly involved fish. (I am notorious for forgetting menus immediately, but luckily, the specials menu is also posted on a chalkboard!) The fish dishes sounded really good, but I had my heart set on Veal Picata that night. My friends ordered two Pasta e Fagioli & Roasted Peppers as appetizers. We also had a bottle of red wine (to split between 4 people), and a glass of white (for me). I can't remember what my friends ordered (Chicken Parmigiana, and I think two pasta dishes?), but I know my fiance had the Seafood Risotto. Some of our meals came with a side of veggies, so we had a few Broccoli sides & one Escarole side.

I was really pleased with my Veal Picata! It came with three perfectly-prepared pieces of veal in a delicious lemon wine sauce. There were no capers, which I think are usually included in a picata, but I didn't miss them too much. There was just the right amount of sauce on the plate — my veal cutlets weren't soggy, but there was plenty to sop up with each bite (Pro tip: the sauce also tasted really good with the broccoli!). The Broccoli side wasn't just a plain ol' steamed bowl of veggies. It was a generous portion of florets, and they were steamed, but then also lightly tossed with fresh garlic & a hint of oil. YUM. We finished the meal with some coffee, and one of my friends got the Lemon Sorbet for dessert. Boy was I jealous when I saw that the sorbet was served in an actual lemon! That's my favorite — sighhh.

I feel that the best meals are the ones where you leave feeling satisfied, but not stuffed or heavy. This was definitely one of those meals, and the reason that I would gladly come back — especially because Italian food usually guarantees a heavy meal. Bonus points for an Italian dinner for 5, with appetizers and dessert, coming in under $200!

Trattoria Pesce Pasta turned out to be a perfect choice for us on that snowy Sunday, and you won't go wrong choosing it either. It's a lovely choice for a (small) group dinner or a romantic date for two.

  7. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place!  I have been coming here for years because the food is usually pretty good, the service is warm, they have affordable options on their wine list, and I'm a pretty big fan of one of their entrees, the Fettichine Amatriciana (I think that's the name).  It has an amazing pink sauce and lots of shrimp, and always hits the spot.  Any time I order another dish I regret it; in particular I wasn't a fan of the sole on a recent visit.  I recommend ordering the broccoli rabe as a side because it's always a nice compliment to their creamy pasta dishes. For wine, my favorite is the Santa Cristina Toscana 2011 for $30.00.

I'm always too full to order desert, but am never to full to scarf the free Italian cookies they bring with your bill which are amazing and authentic Italian cookies.  Service here is attentive and of the kind that used to be in every Italian restaurant in the village when I was a kid.  They ham up the Italian thing a little bit, but are also very warm and the absolute definition of hospitality.  There are other restaurants with a more cutting edge menu, or nicer decor, or even a little cheaper, but overall  if you are looking to share a quite meal with a friend this place is aces.

** I recommend coming spring/summer/fall as the door opening can be very drafty here in the winter.

** Tables can be a little close together and claustrophobic on busy nights.

  8. You want red sauce? They got your red sauce. Tangy tasty and very red. Their politically incorrect veal is tender and hard to resist. Their pasta is cooked to al dente perfection.

They have several different fish dishes daily making their name a fact rather  than a misnomer.

Oh, and they have ice cold Moretti beer, a definite plus.

Been their twice and was treated like family both times.
