It's been a few years since we had dinner at this diner and it's still as good as it gets!
The chicken marsala, omelettes and corn beef hash/eggs orders came in large servings that can be two servings each.
This is a great place for a simple breakfast. I live close to this area and it's nice to have somewhere cozy and clean to go to. The employees are friendly and attentive. It can get busy but they do the best they can.
The coffee is really good here, idk what they add to it but I instantly get a crazy rush. I usually get home fries, eggs over easy, toast, bacon, and waffle/pancake. I'm fat, I know. Every thing is always good. I also get fries and a side of gravy. TRY IT!!!
I've gone here multiple times, great quick stop or a Sunday breakfast spot.
I've been here many times over the years just because it is really close to my house. I've never had a bad experience or a good experience. It was just always okay.
There's nothing on their menu that sets them apart from your average diner. The service is mediocre and so is the food. I liked their grilled cheese sandwich and their hot wings.
If you're going late at night prepare for a LONG wait. The pricing is kind of up there for a diner as well. However, if you're hungry and it's late it's not a bad spot to check out.
I had been to the diner once before and I remember it being really good. The food for the most part, was good and the portions were large. My only problem with this place is the fact that the wait staff were a bit slow and we ended up waiting 20 minutes for the check. We eventually got up and went to pay at the front. We had to ask for more coffee and water for tea opposed to them coming around and offering like a lot of other places do. All-in-all, it's a nice diner and I'd still go back again.
Triple crown is a nice family diner with some solid diner food. They get the basics right and their service is friendly. If they're crowded the food sometimes takes a while to come out, but that's to be expected. Even when they are busy you can be seated pretty quickly. The parking lot is a beast on its own though, and that can give people the illusion that the place is packed. That's because people here can't park. On numerous occasions I've encountered a car taking up 3 spots, come on people.
Hungry and without groceries on a Friday night, we decided to hit up a diner. The Triple Crown was the nearest locale, and with a full parking lot we were sure we'd found a gem.
I started off with a bowl of matzoh ball soup and shared the fried zucchini appetizer with the boyfriend. The broth in the soup was ok, a little salty, but flavorful. The matzoh balls were pretty disgusting, though. They tasted half ok and half like they'd been open in a refrigerator for days. The fried zucchini sticks were underwhelming. The slices were undercooked and watery. The marinara sauce for dipping improved things but we couldn't even finish them.
Our entrees were equally bad. He had a reuben sandwich, and I went for my usual ham and cheese omelette. The reuben was made with crappy meat and too much sauerkraut, which made the bread too soggy to really use as a vehicle for meat and sauerkraut.
The omelette with home fries was the most disappointing. I thought the omelette tasted like dishwater. It wasn't warm enough, and the cheese wasn't really melted into the egg or ham chunks. The home fries weren't very well-cooked, and even though there were bits of onion and peppers throughout, it wasn't very flavorful either. It just tasted like dry potato bits.
We definitely won't be returning.
Great neighborhood diner, located in Bellerose Terrace NY. It is your typical diner so I wouldn't go ordering a five star dinner, try sticking with their breakfast and lunch specials. You will be immediately seated the second you walk inside. I would say nothing takes longer then 15/20 minutes to get your food and it's always hot!
If you somehow make it to the diner after 11:00 pm though it is a completely different story. This must be the local hot spot for the munchies. Expect it to be a little loud (depending on what day of the week it is) and the waiters will have you in and out as fast as possible.
It's ok
It's a diner.
What can I say…..I'm not thrilled but I'm not going to complain. It was edible and I guess that's ok.
I had a well done burger. I like my burgers medium well but I did not feel like taking a chance on E-Coli tonight. You know the little voice that speaks to you….mine was screaming at me.
Water was great. Sometimes it's the best thing on the menu.
Will not return.
