  1. I work very close by and I was pretty happy about this place opening up since the food options are quite limited in this area. I mean, honestly, I am not going to Five Guys for lunch.

It is a cute little shop and definitely seems a bit out of place on this busy strip of LIC. Mainly, there are lots of bus stops here and bodegas. You catch my drift.

The floors are wooden and they serve up sandwiches, coffees, teas and salads.

I stopped in here in the afternoon to grab a cup of tea. It was getting to that point in the day where I need a boost, so I ordered a large matcha soy latte.

The matcha was a powder and it wasn't too bad when mixed with steamed soy. The large cup wasn't particularly large, but it was $5. I didn't feel like I got my money's worth. Oh well.

The pickings are slim around here, so I guess the saying goes, beggars can't be choosers.

  2. I love their espresso drinks but not too crazy about their iced coffee. I can't explain the taste but it's just strange.

The bagel sandwiches are SO good. Bagel of your choice with any 4 toppings for only $4.75! What a deal.

I come here quite often and the Greek barista is always pleasant and friendly.

  3. The coffee is really good and the staff is very very friendly.
5$ cc minimum, but they let me use my card the first time I was there before I knew which was nice of them.

This place was on my way to work so I would grab coffee if I needed and sometimes get lunch. The salads are just ok. Its more so the dressing than the salad, dressing is very vinegar heavy. They are very good about grabbing you a side of bread.

  4. I'm normally a sucker for Starbucks (don't hate me), but there isn't a Starbucks that is close to my new job, so I stumbled into this place. The prices are on-par with what Starbucks charges (except that you don't get free refills on tea and coffee with the Gold Card). I agree with what the storefront placard says, "the coffee doesn't suck." In fact, the coffee is quite strong, and for $3.50 you can get a strong double-shot iced-Americano made by a handsome Italian man- and he won't take down your name and call you by another name. In addition to their coffee, they also serve reasonably-priced bagel sandwiches for $4.75 which includes 4 items inside of your bagel. Among those items includes, but are not limited to: prosciutto, ham, turkey, chicken, avocado, pepper, mozzarella, olive paste, tomato, etc. It's a great place to grab a snack on the way to the train (the closest being the Queensboro Plaza station). And hey, why not support a local business?

  5. I came here with a few friends because one of the friends was just meeting us on her lunch break.  There aren't many food options near Queensboro so this is what we went with.  Or really, I wanted to try out Panini Tozt Cafe but all of the seating was taken.

I ordered a salad  that had tuna fish, hard-boiled egg, tomato, cannellini beans, red onion and celery in it.  So the salad had a good variety of items in it but in itself was unremarkable.  And the bread it came with was just so random and unappealing.

I also had an iced coffee which was fine but not really strong enough.  And to top it off everything was expensive.  Oh well.

  6. I've stopped by here when I'm in the area for work. Coffee is great and they make cold brewed iced coffee which I prefer in the summers. They have pastries and sandwiches as well but I prefer goodies from nearby Commissary cafe.

  7. I pass by this store everyday on my way to/from work,  but I've never tried it until yesterday. I got a bagel with 4 ingredients for $4.50. The ingredients I chose for my sesame bagel was turkey, prosciutto,  olive paste and avocado. Everything was fresh and the sandwich was good. I also got their soup of the day, which cost me $4.75 for a small container. The soup was alright, nothing special and wasn't worth the cost. The store also offers pre-made sandwiches and salads, but I find it to be overpriced. With that said, I have never tried it, so it could taste really good and be worth the money. I may come back here again for their bagels.

  8. The food here is definitely good, I had the lox bagel with scallion and avocado which was tasty. However, I have no idea why everyone raves about the service. The older man who took my order misheard my request for a hot coffee for hot chocolate. After telling him that, I received rude looks and he told a younger guy to confirm with me that it was a coffee before giving me the correct drink. On top of that, I paid by creditcard and the older man accused me of taking the signed receipt. After asking me 3 times if I took the receipt, he then reprinted the receipt and made me sign another one (I sure hope I'm not charged twice)

Overall, the food was definitely good, but the service wasn't that great. The prices are also ridiculous. It's tough enough waking up in the morning and commuting to work, let alone deal with bad customer service. So I'd take my money and go elsewhere for better service and more affordable food next time. I really wanted to like this spot sigh…
