  1. Updated review:

A few day after this initial review, I got a message from Jim (an owner). He apologized for the issue that I had at the bar. From my previous review, I did not have an issue with the bar besides the bill and my bank informing me that multiple charges had been attempted on my card. Actually, I liked the chill and relaxed vibe that Trophy Bar has.

The candle lit, dim bar itself is kind of dark, intimate, and spooky all in a good way. Plus, it could be an excellent pit stop if you live a few stops further in Brooklyn on the J train; it is only a couple of blocks away from the Marcy stop. I will say that the bar has an excellent array of cocktails and the bartender, Conner, was very skilled in preparing the cocktails. "Call me Cait", with a mixture of Hendricks, champagne, and some other stuff, was my favorite drink of the night. There was another gin-based drink that I enjoyed but I have forgotten its name :(.

Drop by grab a drink or eight. Hopefully, the issue with the bar's POS software has been fixed. Oh, that would be Point of Sale for POS and not "piece of shit".

    "Trophies for Ripping Off People"

I wish that I could give this place a zero star.

I came here and everything was chill and cool. The bar had a variety of delicious and interesting cocktails , wines, and beers and the bartender, "Conner", was cool. My friend and I were having beverages and a grand old time.

Then the bill(S) arrived. So my tab was 84 bucks but there was another tab that was 62 bucks. So, I inquired what was going on (I may drink a lot but I still know how to count). Mr Conner assured me that it was an issue with the POS system and he offered to refund the 84 bucks. So, I am thinking cool beans and my friend even dropped 20 bucks for Conner's tip.

Later on that night, I try to withdraw money from an ATM and my card keeps getting declined which does not many any sense because I know I have money in that account. So, I call Chase bank and I find that THREE separate $54 dollars charges were made on my on my card from trophy bar. Obviously, the bank tagged this as suspicious activity.

Like who is not going to monitor his/her bank transactions after you have give him/her a bogus check?

If you come here bring cash, order one drink, and bounce.

  2. Trophy is a great place to hang out after work. My coworker and I enjoyed the $5 drinks during happy hour as well as the $6 cheeseburger and french fries special. The food was fantastic and the dj gave us great mixes of 80's, 90's and early 2000 songs!

  3. If you're looking for a decent happy hour with plenty of breathing room, Trophy Bar is a good pick. The main draw was their decently sized patio, which I didn't get to fully enjoy (read below), and a happy hour special that includes $5 burgers and fries. Say what? I knew I'd be more hungry than thirsty on this particular day, so it sounded like the right choice, and indeed it was.

The happy hour burger and fries were by no means "watered down" versions, and if they were, I'm eager to try them outside of happy hour because they were deeeeelicious. My burger was very flavorful and juicy. The thinly cut fries were salted well and ranged from crispy to soggy, but I like both so no complaints here. My friend also got an order of the cheese fries, which have a bit of kick thanks to the jalapenos, and they too were very good. The topping of fresh scallions added a nice contrast in flavor and texture. Yum.

In terms of drinks, happy hour includes $5 wells, wine, and beer + $5 margaritas, bloody marys (maries?), and sangria. I opted for the bloody mary because I honestly haven't had many in my life so I figured why not? It was smooth sailing before I got my food but something about the savoriness of my meal or my ketchup-dipped fries didn't complementing the drink nicely. Too much tomato after a certain point. I guess there's a reason I stayed from them but hey, I got my fill of veggies for the day, right?…No?

    A couple of gripes:
    – You can only order food at the bar, and the wait times aren't great. The bartender apologized for the wait though, which was appreciated.
    – The "no smoking" policy in the patio wasn't enforced. My friends didn't want to make a fuss so we moved inside, but read the signs, jackasses. There are multiple.

  4. My roommate is obsessed with the happy hour which includes a hamburger or grilled cheese for $5 till 8pm! Good crowd. Not dicks. Generally.

  5. Came here to start my night with my group of friends. Very interesting setup with the dance party in the way back of the room.

The mixed drinks specials are very interesting and some of the names are hysterical. Cool little thing they do: If you pay in cash you won't get charged with tax. Conveniently there's an ATM outside the door, but probably not worth using because of the fees.

This was around the time Happy Hour wasn't available, or if it was I wasn't aware of it. Either way, I don't have much of a problem with this place.

  6. My local bar and one of the best in Billyburg! Great tequila selection, tasty bar food & nice service. Quieter during the week but really gets a'happening on a Friday and Saturday night!

  7. Trophy Bar has one of the best happy hours in NYC. I find it a challenge to find a good food menu or one at all during happy hour for special prices. And what I love about this menu is that I can even get a homemade VEGGIE BURGER with fries for only Five Buckaroos!! How many places can you say you had a full dinner for $5, happy hour or not?! The burger is also of a Shake Shack level of veggie burgers. The patty is made of chickpeas, sweet potato, cranberry, walnut patty with juicy tomatoes, greens and a side of Tzatziki, The fries remind me of the comfort fast food joints, they are thin but tasty. They also have a jalapeñofest order of nachos for group. I love the shishito peppers! They're are roasted and melt into your mouth. The grilled cheese is pretty standard, not too exciting.

The crafty beers I love so much are also only $5. I always order Bell's Two Hearted IPA. It's ridiculously flavorful, easily a favorite IPA. I guess if I am trying to be good, I have been known to order a gin and soda since, wells are also on special, along with margaritas, sangria and bloody marys.

In the summer/fall/spring it has a huge and well decorated patio. There's even sections for the smokers and non-smokers. I love patios and Trophy is off the beaten path so you don't have to deal with too many people and instead enjoy the atmosphere.

This is also the perfect place to hit up for food and drink before or after the Mishka events across the street. If you don't know Mishka, you have to go and be ready to spend some dough.

  8. I normally come out for the R&B trivia night on Mondays but definitely one of my favorite atmospheres on Broadway. Happy Hour here is one of my favorites, honestly probably one of the best I've ever seen. $5 for cheeseburger and fries, wells, drafts… I'm all for it!
