  1. My cousin brought an assortment of 1.5dz mini's to a dinner party at hubby's brother's place exactly two weeks ago.  She remembered my niece had an allergy, but just forgot which one (it's dairy not gluten).  All of the flavors I tried were excellent. If I lived local, this would be a great place to pick up a sweet treat!

  2. Small, cute shop in the East Village. I stopped by on a late afternoon and there was only one person working there and she was on the phone. I had to wait a few minutes, but wasn't bothered since I was initially undecided anyway. I got a red velvet cupcake, the pumpkin loaf, and an oatmeal cranberry cookie. The loaf and cookie were so good! Moist and very flavorful, but not overly sweet. The cupcake was just okay; it wasn't terrible but I've had better. The cream cheese icing was really good though. Can't wait to try the other flavors.

  3. Yummy gf treats with just a few vegan/gf options. I had the gf/vegan snicker doodle which was perfect and my friend had the gf peanut butter cookie. I was definitely hoping for more options, especially cupcakes, but the staff was wonderful and the cookies were good.

  4. Tu-Lu's I love youuuuuuu! And your coffee cake.

I first discovered this place over four years ago on a trip to New York, and their coffee cake is still every bit as good as I remembered. I don't even remember liking coffee cake in my pre-gluten-free days. Seriously, it's that good. My advice: buy the coffee cake mini loaves in multiples. As soon as you finish one, you'll want another! I didn't remember anything else standing out for my last visit so this time, I also got a cute little package of "thin mint" cookies. They're not exact replicas but MAN, if I close my eyes I can almost imagine I'm eating Girl Scout cookies again!

If you're gluten free and visiting New York, this place is absolutely a must-visit. Personally, moving to New York is a dream of mine for the near future, and Tu-Lu's Bakery is definitely on the short list for the reasons why.

  5. First time trying gluten free cupcakes. The cupcake has a spongier texture than regular cupcakes. It does taste healthier but the cupcakes was dry and over baked. The cream on the other hand wasn't too sweet so that was okay.

  6. Good gluten free spread with a cute homemade vibe. Although I'm not of the gluten-free persuasion, I also enjoyed these treats–went with 3 mini cupcakes and a dark chocolate brownie.  I was pretty surprised to learn that they are open until 9pm on weekdays.  I took off some stars because the woman who helped me seemed really frazzled and wasn't very knowledgeable about her products and couldn't readily choose her favorite treat.  Who knows, perhaps I caught her on an off night.

  7. The woman I spoke with over the phone was very pleasant I rush ordered a gluten free vanilla cake with vanilla frosting for my husband. I was extremely dissapojnted with the fact that I paid close to 50$ for a 6" cake that was entirely too bland. However I am absolutely open to coming back and trying the other gluten free treats this was my first experience though I doubt it will be my last.

  8. Great gluten free bakery that also has tons of vegan and also non-dairy options as well.Took my friend from out of town who has celiac's here and she was so excited and happy! I had the vegan chocolate chip cookie and the cinnamon donut (either non-dairy or vegan) and both were yummy!

Another huge plus is that they are open late – 9:30 for a bakery is practically unheard of. We were there around 7 and they still had tons of stuff left. The woman at the counter was super friendly and we hung out for a while at the window. I love places where they don't mind if you chill for a bit.

    I'll definitely be back!
