Really enjoyed the food–great presentation, flavor and freshness. I had the pananag curry with forbidden rice. We tried several appetizers and all were tasty. The service was prompt, if not overly attentive. The restaurant is small, but atmospheric, and it gets packed for dinner. Municipal parking lot located down the block
Yummy in my Tummy! Tum Thai is a solid option for lunch! I got the pad Thai to go which came with a generous portion of noodles, a side salad with an excellent peanut dressing and a side of soup! Like what! All that for less than $10?! It wasn't the most amazing pad Thai I've ever had, but definitely tasty. Lunch special = worth it.
Continues to be our very favorite restaurant on the Island….and most certainly our favorite Thai choice. Worth the trip down to Rockville Center and small parking challenge. Simply the best, never disappointing with flavors and spice right on. Elegant setting with full glass to watch the pedestrians stroll by. Attentive service yet never intrusive. Last night we had 3 of the whole fish dishes at our table, one more gorgeous than the next. Yom Ped, duck salad is just perfect as was the crispy pork belly. Duck rolls, mango and avacado salad, spring rolls….all hits. The noodle or curry dishes are always a favorite, our family enjoying the vegetable options best. Wished we could find a place just like Tum Thai closer to home, but always willing to take a ride for exceptional cuisine. Accepting a reservation and BYOB make Tum Thai a winner all around.
I heard good things about this place, but walked out disappointed.
APPETIZER:
– fish cake. Was good. The sauce that came with it had a hint of spice and was also tangy. Cucumbers and bits of onions were in it along with bits of peanuts. Digged this.
MAIN COURSE:
-spicy drunken noodle with chicken. Was extremely disappointed by lack of SPICE hence the name, spicy. If there was an option of getting it extremely spicy, we definitely would have opted for that.
-pad see ew with beef. Was alright. Had better, was better than the other dish.
DRINKS:
– Thai iced tea. You can't mess this up.. Which they didn't. It was average.
Definitely go to Tum Thai for great Thai food.
Decor & Ambiance
This spot is great for an intimate dinner/date. The lighting is dim, the decor is sleek and modern. I especially love how the restaurant looked very clean.
Service
The staff was very attentive and friendly.
Food
This is really what you want to know, right? Well, I ordered Pad Thai and Chicken Satay. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. The pad thai was not greasy, nor was the chicken satay greasy. I've had bad experiences at other places. Boy am I relieved to have found this restaurant. The pad thai had many sprouts in it, which added a delicious freshness and crunch to the dish. The chicken satay had that delicious grill flavor to it.
I'm definitely going back.
BYOB?! I'm in…
After passing by Tum Thai Cuisine countless times, I finally decided to give it a try. My wife and I came here for dinner on a Monday night and were pleasantly surprised.
It wasn't too busy and we were immediately greeted and seated by the arching windows looking out onto Park Ave. Doing the research before hand, we brought a bottle of wine, and as expected, enjoyed a fantastic meal.
The service here was some of the best I've ever had. The food was delicious. Here you'll find classic Thai dishes and appetizers served on oversized plates. We shared the curry puff appetizers which were outstanding. Being a creature of habit, I ordered the Pad Thai. It was a generous amount of food served piping hot.
The staff was seriously so nice and this restaurant is a great staple to the RVC area. Craving Thai? Give it a try!
It took me a while to write this review considering that I frequent this restaurant. Well, let me start by saying that the food here is simply delicious. I usually order Pad Thai, which is perfectly made here. I always order all of my plates mild and they do a great job at keeping up with your spiciness preference. I also had the Yellow Curry (mild) and it was beautifully served and tasted great. Keep in mind that this is a BYOB restaurant (bring your own booze!)
The service is phenomenal. The waiters are very attentive and are always going around refilling your water glass or simply inquiring whether there is anything else you might want or need. Definitely a great place to have a nice lunch and/or dinner. Also, the prices are SO affordable. Last time I was here I ordered two Pad Thais (one with Tofu and the other one with Chicken). I also ordered an appetizer and one Iced Thai Tea. It all came down to $30 (not including tax!) Seriously, that is such a great price considering the quality of the food here.
Lastly, the decoration is simple yet breathtaking. It really gives this place a fancy yet genuine touch.
Picked up my sister from jfk and decided to grab some dinner not too far away. Found this recommended on Yelp and decided to give it a try. The restaurant has a very cool ambience and the staff was friendly. All of the food came out very fast and was delicious. Would recommend pot stickers, pad Thai, and basil chicken curry. My sister really liked the Thai iced coffee. Would definitely return here.
