  1. Love!

Only been once and I want to go back. Friendly staff, friendly party-goers, just friendly.

DJ was awesome, he played all the right tunes at the right time.

Prices for happy hour were great also, can't complain not one bit about this spot.

    Definitely going back.

  2. I realize in the grand scheme of life this review will mean nothing, but seriously the people working were such assholes I just can't not leave a review.

I mean we're prob too old for this place, we used to come back in the day (22ish) when we'd win a free happy hour every other week, but I prob haven't been here in like 6 years.

I was with a bachelorette party, we'd just gone to lips and we're looking for someplace to go in the area and we jokingly said let's try turtle bay, but we wound up actually going. I had pregamed earlier in the night at a hotel and had brought a corkscrew and totally forgot it was in my bag. So they searched my bag, found it and took it. Ok props for safety, but when I asked if I could get it back when I left they were assholes and said no. I mean I didn't understand why I couldn't get it back.. And they were assholes about it.  Ok, I go in cause I'm not gonna leave over a corkscrew, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. We go to the second floor and get some beers because you can't do turtle bay sober at all. Then it's not too bad. Pretty decent music, but the people there are super trashy. I don't want to sound too judgement, but they were, sorry.. They apparently close down around 3. Who knew, I thought this was NYC where places close at 4. (Just noticed it says closes at 4 here on Yelp) They did a last call, which I assumed was for drinks but apparently it was for the bathroom too. They was a bathroom upstairs and we tried to go before we left and the guy said it was closed but we could go downstairs. Ok fine, easier than going up anyway, but we get downstairs and they tell us we can't go to the bathroom. Like seriously we just spent money drinking here and we can't use the bathroom before going home. Someone who I assume was a manager or something told us they were counting money and they can't let people in that area. Seriously? Wait till everyone leaves and then count your money. My friends were going to fidi, and they couldn't use the bathroom.  Then everyone working their proceeded to be assholes. One person wasn't and I wish I knew his name cause he apologize for everyone, but I mean this place sucks. I honestly can't see myself ever going back here. Like I said I'm sure my review means not much, but just know this place is terrible, go anywhere else.

  3. This is your typical post college / if you are in your lower 20s bar. Was here on a Wednesday night with 3 other guys to watch the basketball game. On the positive side, lots of Wed night drink specials ($10 bud/bud light/coors light pitchers, 50cent wings, $7 jäger bombs), large TV in the back, lots of security, relatively attentive server (maya). As for the negatives, there is no game sound as the DJ plays music (which is way too loud) and there is a bathroom attendant (unnecessary) for a bathroom that is super small.

  4. I suppose I'd love this collegesque bar in my 20's, but not so much now.

Midtown east side has quite the variety of watering holes as is most bustling areas in this magnificent concrete jungle. If your looking for a bar crawl in this neighborhood, you've found the right street. Irish pubs to the semi loungy pads to the posh break your budget ouch bars all within a short stroll.

Turtle bay seems to be a bar without identity. Is it a club, a border line dive, middle of the road restaurant or a college crash all you drink ha ha chug chug. Being a member of the post 40's crowd I find it unappealing for these and a few more reasons that I'll pontificate upon.

They have some great specials price wise and that cannot be denied, however. The cool not cold draft beer tastes bitter, typically from dirty taps. Mixed drinks are weak, Jack & gingers $4 special were watered down. Clique crowd, I didn't notice mingling rather crews that obviously knew one another.

The food, hmmm. Well it's food, your typical quick throw it on the stove or fryer and serve it up quick before they lose the munchies. Wings were hard, obviously taken from the freezer to the fryer. Limited menu. Not the most cleanliness of places, not saying it's unsanitary.

The bartender's are kinda sorta friendly, but quite driven to deliver average drinks. No warm and fuzzies. Yes, I get it; it's a younger crowd that swills bottom shelf well drinks as did I when I was a 20 something. I didn't get that welcoming feel that one desires in a choice hat hanging establishments.

No, I wouldn't make this a destination, but it doesn't suck if your expectations are lowered and your 23 years old.

  5. I think with the slew of reviews here, a big factor to having a good time here will probably be your age. The crowd here is early 20's (if not under-aged minors), with a couple of 30 somethings peppered in. We're talking your super tanned jersey shore rejects, frat boys, yuppies and your club lizards. First floor is normally packed to capacity during happy hour, good luck snaking your way to the bar. The back area of the first floor has adequate seating if you're looking for a bite to eat. I cannot attest to the food because I haven't tried it. Second floor has a large dance floor but it's normally swamped with sweaty gyrating individuals. The floor is so incredibly sticky and slimy, god speed if you slip and fall. Sometimes there is a cool mascot turtle that pops up out of nowhere and the bartenders will ignore you while they dance on the bar. Wednesdays is pretty good, 1$ beers and wings for 50 cents a pop.
Two thumbs up fine holiday fun.

  6. This place is hip and cool, but it could be a tad crowded, even by the entrance of the place. That's suppose to be the point? Well not to the extent where I have to worry about someone bumping the drink out of my hand, or trying to maneuver past the sea of people on the 2nd floor to get to the other side. Keep in mind on certain nights there is a cover charge, they do have a cool turtle(lol not live turtle) right before steeping into the dance area…great for pictures and catching a breather. Other than that, + good vibes, song selection, bartenders ;), -cover charge, overly crowded, bouncers can be a tad aggressive.

  7. College hang out place. Decent place to go and get cheap drinks and food, though nothing I would recommend a tourist or someone visiting to check out. You can sign up to get their text messages and they will send a text out about once a week to once every two weeks.
Nothing really sticks out to recommend or make notes of. Literally good for cheap drinks and/or food, and call it a day.

  8. Turtle Bay is best on Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays.

I've been here a few times now and although they have specials pretty much every night, the best times to hear good music and dance are Fridays and Saturdays on the upper level.

For food, my friends and I usually walk in all the way through the lower level towards the back where there are booths to sit down and eat. They have typically bar food that is decent and good enough to help you keep however much liquor you so choose to guzzle down that night.

The margarita I ordered was about $7 or $8 bucks (can't remember) and I ordered 50 cent wings (Wednesday night special). We always have a good time coming here and the music is always very good. They have a good selection of Top 40 and old school hip hop and R&B.

I definetly see myself coming back here in the enar future.
