TuttaBella has always been in my peripheral vision – I'm in the area semi-regularly because my favorite Lord & Taylor is next door and my hair stylist is down the road, but I was never inclined to try it. I dined here tonight with some work friends after one of them recommended it.
I like the look of TuttaBella – it's no frills but still interesting. There really isn't a unifying theme as far as decor – it's a little all over the place but I don't mind. The icing on the cake is the lights that hug the outside of the restaurant and the surrounding foliage; they're Christmas lights without screaming Christmas – a nice touch.
Looking over the menu they have a good selection of basic Italian dishes, plus our server highlighted a number of specials. The bread basket contained a number of carbs – Italian bread plus bread sticks and this thin crispy cracker-like thing that was very tasty. We started with some fried calamari; the marinara sauce it came with was underseasoned but the calamari itself was very good – not chewy at all with an almost puffy consistency. For my main I had chicken capricciosa which was also very good. The chicken cutlet was the perfect thickness and I could tell the arugula salad was fresh because it had that raw, slightly earthy taste (mmmm). For dessert we shared the chocolate lava cake, napoleon, and some biscotti.
The staff was super friendly, and overall I had a great meal. Glad I discovered this place after passing it so many times =)
This is the first restaurant in this location that will likely make it. It is across from the Lord and Taylor in Scarsdale and an excellent place to have a really lovely dinner. We eat here often since it is close to my 90 YO MIL's house and they always have something on the menu she would like.
First they have an excellent selection of wines and good classic cocktails (a must for my MIL and me). The fish is always good and I love the salads. The other night I had beet salad with 4 different kinds of beets and some baby greens and it was divine.
I love liver and had a southern style dish with a wine sauce that was perfectly cooked (medium rare).
The service is just the right touch, we never wait too long between courses and they watch from the side to come in just when you need them to remove a dish or refill a glass of wine or water.
It has a moderate noise level but you can have a good conversation with your partners at the table. Valet parking since the lot is tiny.
Been here more than a year so lets hope it lasts, the dining room has been full each time we came here.
