Great new spot in Tribeca! Adorable decor, great menu and easy going staff. Acai bowls, avo toast and lattes are instagram worthy. Ingredients are so fresh and it's the type of place you won't be disappointed with anything you order. Great place to come with girlfriends
A true gem 🙂
Nothing I love more than a cute brunch spot opened by hot Australian men with accents serving me. Not to mention how attentive and amazing their servers were. I was constantly checked on. Of course swooning everytime the Aussies spoke to me. So excited Two Hands decided to open a bigger spot in TriBeCa but I was a bit sad they didn't serve the acai bowl at this location 🙁
I had the sweet potato waffles with bacon. Now, this isn't your typical American tiny bacon. It was a big fat slice filled with smokey flavor. The grilled Brussel sprouts paired perfectly with every bite. My friend had the burger and it was EVERYTHING. Normally fat patties are dry but this patty was fat and juicy! Literally can't stop talking about it, even the table next to us ordered it for themselves after hearing us rave about it. Highly recommend this brunch spot. One of my faves in the city!
Two Hands, Two Stars. You know the rules.
Basically, this spot got off on the wrong foot with me and never recovered. They broke two of my important rules:
1) Always offer burger buns without the seeds on top as an alternative (the "Five Guys Rule")
2) If you have an All Day Menu, it best be available ALL DAY
With the unavailability of normal bread preventing me from getting a burger, and the lack of an all day menu preventing the girlfriend from getting avocado toast or gluten free oatmeal or something equally hearty and filling, we very seriously considered leaving before inertia set in and we just decided to order. She went with the burger to play on my jealousy; I went with the hanger steak, because its adjective best matched my mood at the time.
The steak was awesome. Small, extremely overpriced, but really good, and had a good sauce, some delicious onions, and some eggplant that went well with it. The burger was allegedly really good. We also got garlic potatoes, which were the equivalent of fries (but better), for a measly $9.
Conclusion: I wouldn't come back here for dinner, and I'm personally really hesitant to go for brunch. Bonus is that you start speaking in an Australian accent when you come here, and also the table next to us played the "Aussie Name Game" and IT ACTUALLY WORKED.
Exactly what you'd expect for the area: pricey, tasty (if you like things like beets and avocado in whatever you're eating), scene-y, long waits.
Brunch on a Sunday for six people was quoted at 45 minutes before noon on a Sunday, but was more like 1.5 hours. The space around the bar was awkward to stand around in, so we mostly hung around outside. The room itself is rather elegant, and half the people were dressed to match, while the other half wore a range of yoga clothes and beachwear. (So come as you are, I guess.)
I think I was underwhelmed mostly because I ordered a bloody mary and sweet potato waffles, and neither was what I expected. The bloody mary said it involved beets but otherwise seemed normal-ish, so I didn't expect it to taste like something from Juice Press–it was basically beet juice that tasted vaguely of alcohol, and doesn't have any flavors in it that would indicate it's a bloody mary if someone put it in front of you without telling you what it was supposed to be (just call it something else, for goodness sake!) The waffle (note the singular) itself was quite tasty, but while I expected it to be savory, it was overwhelmed with the powerful mustard spread they layered on top. The bacon was outstanding, though.
Overall the prices were way out of line with portions (one waffle or one pancake or one smallish piece of avocado toast for those prices is pretty wild). Probably a decent choice if you are an obsessively healthy eater or are vegan/GF and have a solid wallet, but I wouldn't be back.
Just came here for Saturday brunch with a friend. Maybe it was the rain, but we only had a 10-15 min wait when we got there around 11AM.
The restaurant is small – but it's bright and cozy. It is a bit too crowded though. The tables are a little too close together but hey it's NYC.
I love, love, love their palm beach fizz. Light, refreshing, and citrus = my perfect brunch cocktail. Coffee was great as well but they don't provide free refills.
The mushroom toast was actually not my favorite. It was a little too salty for me and the sauce was overwhelming. What I really loved was their burger. So unique, juicy, flavorful.
Overall, a solid brunch spot. We saw the line forming after 12pm, so make sure to get here early!
Food was pretty tasty. The burger was juicy and a little bit different w a beet relish and pickles and cheese. The chicken was also solid, but nothing special. My biggest gripe here is the price. Not sure if it's the location that drives this, but 25 bucks for a measly chicken leg and some, albeit tasty, wheatberry concoction felt like a reach. The squash blossoms, also good, at $14 for two again felt like a stretch. The Bahama Slim was also good and at 15 was not cheap either, but at least it was boozy and very well made. Anyways service was fine and the place was nice and the food fresh, but really more expensive than it needed to be.
The original Two Hands is my all time favorite spot for some brunch or afternoon coffee. Although I am no longer living in New York, I made it a mission to stop by for brunch when I was back for a weekend. This location is just as beautiful and a little more sophisticated with the additional bar area. More seating available as well but still not ideal for a big party. I came by on a Saturday during prime brunch time. Since it was just me and my boyfriend, we were seated within 10 minutes.
I had my usual avocado toast and a flat white. Can never go wrong with this combo. Although i do wish I had tried something else because the menu had many interesting options. My boyfriend got the Two Hands Burger and it was cooked a perfect medium rare. The potatoes were my favorite and I'm totally guilty of eating half the portion from my boyfriend's plate.
Overall, very happy with this new location and hopefully lessens the crowd in Little Italy, I can never seem to eat there without a half an hour wait.
Having never been to the original location, my friend and I came here to check it out for a lunch break on macaron day and Two Hands didn't not disappoint.
Situated in Tribeca, Two Hands is a wonderfully decorated space. There is a lot of thought put into the decor from the clean white tables to the sparkling bar to the flowers that adorn each table top (perfect for Instagramming!). Even the bathrooms had something cool going on with them with neon signs designed for ladies and gentleman, color-coded to boot.
The beef burger with beets, pickled cucumber, and fried egg was excellent. It was executed to perfection in my opinion and if I were solely rating by itself, then Two Hands would get five stars. Wasn't a big fan of the tangy homemade ketchup that came with the potatoes. The potatoes which weren't fries were good but I would have preferred fries over it.
Service was a mixed bag. We had two servers and one thought we ordered a hot chocolate. Wrong table. Then, the same server gave us the wrong check. The other one was really nice though. Two Hands is trendy as it gets and I'll only expect it'll get busier as more and more people know about it so hopefully the service doesn't suffer.
I'd go back to try the other items on the menu but if you want a great burger, put Two Hands on your radar. Happy eating and remember: Don't deny, satisfy!
