“Beef with melted truffle cheese, warm glistening truffle glaze, roasted garlic aioli, this one was muy delicioso.”
“The burgers itself imo are more delicious than shake shack actually for it's meat and sauce and flavor and heft.”
“We ordered the Truffle Burger, Manly Burger, and Umami Especiale along with a side of fries and fried pickles.”

Location: my friend took forever to find this place because they are absolutely hard to find?! JK.
I finally tried famous UMAMI!! SO PUMPED! And everytghng's not letting me down for a bit.
Shoutout to the dude who kinda comforted me while I was impatiently waiting for my friend .. Thanks bro!
The place has two floors. First floor is crowded and second floor is quiet. Both floors have bars for people to get a serious drinks.
Food: I hate burgers so I ended up with trying all the sides – cheese tot and maple bacon fries!!
I love both.
Cheese tot is on point. The cheese is balanced so well with potato tot.
Maple becon fries is delicious. I am so glad that they use sweet potato fries to go with maple bacon. The fries is atypical – sweet, but not too sweet.
Service: dude and girls are .. awesome!
PRICE: it's not expensive at all.
I may end up eating burger here..
4 STARS!
I brought the other half, lover of burgers, here for his birthday dinner. It was a good location in the city, easy to find, and the wait wasn't too long for a Friday night. We were seated within 5-10 minutes.
We both ordered burgers and fries plus a nice mystery birthday shot. Burgers came very quickly and were well made. It wasn't the best burger we've ever had or he's ever had but it was pretty good.
The overall vibe of Umami is more classy, so we're the prices. I don't think I would go back to Umami often but it was a good place to check out! Our server was also pretty attentive and helpful!
A few friends took me here for my birthday and they promised me I would love it. I am not really a burger fan but they insisted I would have to get one and I would enjoy it. We came here on a Saturday night for my birthday and it was crowded. So we got the list and just waited till it was our turn.
We got seated on the second floor and there was about six of us. We all got burgers and some of us got regular friends and some got the truffle fries.
The burgers was so gooood or at least mine was. I tried the Manly burger and it was amazing. The burger was so juicy and tender. It's crazy because I only eat burgers once in a while and they have to be REALLLLY good for me to like them. It was also a decent size too. I actually finished it too that's how good it was. It also had beer Cheddar cheese, bacon lardons, smoked onion strings and ketchup but it also came with mustard but I didn't get that on there.
The fries I got where just regular fries and I had different dipping sauces for them. My other friends tried the truffle fries and one got the fries with bacon.
My friends brought me a cake to and they allowed us to have it there and they cut it in the back. It was a really nice experience and the customer service is great too. I would defiantly come back here again.
What happened Umami? I've been here many times before – not overly impressed but the burgers hit a spot. After a year long hiatus I came back only to be sorely disappointed.
First off, our burgers came out lukewarm at best. I ordered the truffle burger, which came with no salt or flavor. It was so bland. The boy ordered a manly burger which he said was okay -nothing blew me away. They also forgot our onion rings, which they brought out right before we were about to finish our meals. The kicker? They were completely bland so we only had two of them before we gave up trying to salt them ourselves.
Our server was nice – but that's about it. Sorry Umami – step up your game.
Never got to try Umami at the peak of the hype, so I was excited to come here for lunch the other day. I thought it was just ok! My sister had it before and said that it used to taste better. Maybe it was an off day? Not sure… Also no line when we went around 2pm on a saturday.
I got the sunny side burger, which is essentially the truffle burger with an egg on top. Meat was cooked a good medium rare like I requested, but I just feel like the texture is still too rough and the bun was also bleh (I would much prefer the buns at shake shack, or brindle room, they're like soft pillows there!). Burger is a nice size though, so you definitely won't leave the restaurant hungry :).
The fries were really good though, I would recommend getting an order of their maple bacon sweet potato fries (a little too sweet maybe but if you share it with a big group, it should be ok!), and their regular OR truffle fries. Their fries are the super thin and crispy kind!
I called and spoke with John the GM last week asking if my party of 20 would be able to sit together on the 2nd floor on Saturday. He said the 2nd floor opens at 6:30pm, but spoke with the chef and said they would open it earlier for my group. When we arrived from my birthday event to Umami Burger, they had the 2nd floor set up for us, and felt like a private party. Our waiter Steven was amazing and accommodating. Everyone loved their burgers and the drinks were nice and strong.
Overall I'm stoked on the service and professionalism, can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. Umami is mad chill
Finally tried this place. I have been craving a solid burger for a while and there's a lot of hype behind this place so I had to stop in. I had the truffle burger, fries, and an angry orchard. The burger was really fucking good tbh. Very juicy and rich. Just falls apart in your mouth. I will say I expected a stronger truffle flavor- the burger has truffle infused cheese, truffle butter, and another truffle ingredient so I expected a dominant truffle flavor. It was more subtle, but that's ok! Delicious and the service was TOP notch. Didn't expect such outstanding service from a burger joint but this guy really took care of me and was very friendly and helpful. The vibe is warm and dark and casual. Will be back! Great for a date
Decent burgers, okay fries, and reasonable pricing keeps this neighborhood standby busy, but it's not overwhelming. While the burgers are definitely (and obviously) Umami's best asset, there's something about their flavor — coupled with the lackluster sides and impersonal ambiance — that left me wanting.
This place is neither Shake Shack nor an April Bloomfield restaurant in its caliber of New York burgers, and maybe that's part of the problem. It's a tasty middle of the road burger that wants to be a little better than it is. I won't avoid Umami Burger in the future but will be more likely to opt for a place with a solid (maybe even more simple) burger, better quality fries, and better atmosphere.
