  1. Being new to the College Point/Flushing area, I have been looking for a good diner that offers a good selection at a reasonable price.  Based on the reviews for Uncle Bills Diner and the fact that it has been around so long were reason enough for us to try this local spot out.  A plus point is that it is right off the service road, has a huge parking lot and you can go to Pathmark afterwards to get your groceries done on the weekends as well! When we went there were only about 4 other people seated, the decor is outdated, but adds old school charm to the diner with mirrors everywhere.  The service was haphazard in that we had a busboy get us our drinks, the female owner (seems like she was the owner) casually took our order while she was on her cellphone while speaking in Russian (?) to someone on the phone, not giving us our utmost attention or allowing us to ask her questions because we felt as if we were interrupting her conversation.  The waffles my wife got were wayyyy undercooked, center was mushy almost raw, tasted dry-cardboard like, Ihop couldve done these better.  The omelet I received was runny and seemed as if the peppers and onions were overly abundant as opposed to the eggs. The other time I went there for brunch with a friend and aside from overly priced sandwhiches and seafood, it was nothing to rave about or draw me back there again for attempt number three.  Disappointed.

  2. My family and I have been patrons of Uncle Bill's for years, and we always leave satisfied. It's standard diner fare, but their breakfast specials are all fantastic and priced at the standard diner pricing.

I almost always order the big breakfast, which gets you two eggs, two pancakes, two sausages, two slices of bacon, home fries and toast. You can't beat that for the sub $9 price. They have special brunch specials on the weekends as well.

The pancakes aren't out of this world but are definitely above average for a diner that doesn't specialize in flapjacks. Everything is always cooked the exact way you ask for it to be cooked, and I have no doubt that the very polite service in addition to the food will win you over.

Their burgers are good as well, and just about the only thing that I wouldn't recommend is the bagel with lox. It wasn't the freshest, but that's what I got for ordering lox at a diner.

    Uncle Bill's!!!!

  3. It's your typical small-sized family-friendly diner with good service and decent breakfast. Clean and shiny and serves its purpose. They pre-butter your toast for you, so let them know in advance if you don't want them to. I love bacon when I don't have to cook it myself. i got the "Big Breakfast" and it was definitely a bit too big for me to handle. But I don't go to diners often, and it's good to know they know how to make their bacon and eggs.

  4. Basically, a nice atmosphere. A decent option in a strip mall of fast food joints. Service deserves a 4. Decor also gets a 4. Food, however, was a bit mediocre so that earned a 3. Prices were average so also a 3.

Mushroom omelet was okay. Mushrooms were a bit more raw than preferred. Didn't even taste sautéed.

Corned beef hash was good.  But then again it's CBH. It's always good. Eggs were scrambled well and home fries for both meals were well done. Crispy on the outside, nicely seasoned, with slight burns here and there. Pretty good

Disco fries were definitely interesting. Imagine regular fries, drizzled in a cinnamon-hinted gravy, with a few slices of American cheese on top.

Overall a good experience. Wouldn't mind coming back for a pre-movie quickie. But would definitely encourage some creative flair if possible.

  5. I've ordered some simple stuff from here before and it's always been pretty good. I usually get the food to go but for the first time I actually sat down and ate at the diner. Very friendly staff and very accommodating! For my sit down- I just browsed the menu and the Philly cheese steak wrap sounded good so I ordered it. Definitely not a disappointment! Was very good! Sometimes it's a hit or miss with these. You can get one that is really greasy or leaky- but this was right on the money. It came with fries too which I added cheese to- also very delicious! The diner is very clean as well. Prices are reasonable. I also like that they are open 24 hours. If you're in the area check it out! You can't miss it if you are on the highway either haha the sign is huge.

  6. Does this place discriminate against redheads?  I sat down at the bar here, though not really all that hungry & there was only one couple in a booth here.  I saw them cleaning up in the kitchen & thought maybe they were closing soon yet they didn't lock the door.

I waited and then more people came in.  I saw another couple sit in a booth & get served.  Then more people came in, sat at the bar & one lady got served.  Some of the people were the same race as me so I figured it wasn't racial discrimination but newsflash for the guy working Sunday night: YOU are the server.

I saw another customer have to go pester this guy to get another cup of coffee & he wasn't exactly tied up with tons of customers at the time.  I was not about to go ask the SERVER to serve me.  I didn't even get a menu.

Obviously, I'm not coming back & can't feel motivated to try the food.

  7. Had to do a thing for work out here and this was about the only stop. I realize at 3am on a Thursday they aren't quite ready for a rush, but my job has been doing a lot of training out here and there was one waiter for the entire place.

Needless to say, it took forever to get our orders than our food.  My coworkers grabbed chicken finger platters and I got hash and eggs.  The platters looked quite underwhelming.  A few pieces of chicken and a handful of fries, for $10.  My plate was much better.  2 eggs, hash, potatoes and toast.  It was standard, good, but nothing special.

The place looked clean and all, but it wasn't really a spot I'd go back to.  The food was mediocre and the prices were high.  The wait time was too long, and they are sorely understaffed for having an MTA depot and the NYPD academy across the street, along with all of the construction.

  8. Really good food for a good price.  It can get really busy though.

Huge parking so plenty of parking since it's in a shopping center.  Friendly service.
