Vamos Al Tequila
“If you're for something cheap and delicious, with no frills like free chips and salsa, go to Calexico.”
“I also liked the homey vibe of the place, way more chill than Papacitos.”
“We had the enchiladas suizas and the burrito pinto, and both came fresh and delicious and fast!”

Great lunch spot! I work nearby and it's a favorite place to wind down with co-workers towards the end of the week. Good specials, decent food. The server is easily frustrated by orders, but in a funny kind of way…
Sub-par food for a lot of money.
Don't order the alcoholic frozen margaritas. There's no alcohol in it. Maybe I should order the non-alcoholic frozen margaritas next time?
Vamos Al Tequila is a standard Mexican restaurant. Nothing really stands out at this place. Mexican food for me meets amazing meats and salsa with character. Unfortunately, I had the hard shell steak tacos which lack seasoning and there's wasnt really any salsa sauce to speak of. The bf had steak mole taco and he enjoyed it. But I do have to say the beans were quite tasty.
If you are looking for a local place with fair Mexican food, televised sporting events and an assortment of Mexican beers, you'll be happy here.
I love this place! I've been there at least five times and each time, the food has been great. I was very surprised to see these negative reviews on Yelp.
In terms of value and authenticity, this is the best place in Greenpoint for Mexican. Calexico and Papacitos are fine, but overrated – and ridiculously packed/slow in service as a result (and Vamos Al Tequila's delivery is WAY better than either of those places, who show up to your place with cold food). This is a place for people who just want a good solid meal, not a scene.
THIS IS FOR BREAKFAST:
Jonathon: the spicy seasonal shrimp soup for $6 is next level
JR: Kale egg bowl was excellent, very happy with the waitress's willingness to sub items on my meal. Would eat here again
Peter: soup too spicy. Breakfast tostada not so great. I knew Mexican for Saturday brunch was a bad idea
Jeff: my bfast enchilada was v tasty
Joe: my brekfast quesadilla was very good.
Vamos reminds me of many of the reasons that Mexican restaurants get a bad rap. Crappy, forgetful service. Pre-made and refrigerated guacamole, watery salsa, greasy pre-made tamales, old fish in the tacos, the charm of a Chi-Chi's in the suburbs that would receive a C in an NYC DOH inspection…
No thank you.

Yes folks, they've got it all. The lunch specials will fill you up and the enchiladas, served with a beer, are on point. Come hungry and leave happy!
The menu here is CRAZY. Tons of vegetarian options and lots of things that you would never expect (Mexican Pizza, delicious sounding wraps, burritos, soups (Pozole!) and so much more. Service is decent. Beware of the $15 card minimum.
Bienvenidos a vamos al Tequila! painted on a wall welcomes you as you enter this Mexican food oasis in Greenpoint, right on Franklin near the Manhattan Ave G stop.
The food is lovely here–not light on the grease, mind you. The flavor is better than average.
The staff is very sweet and friendly.
The margarita on the rocks (the only way you should consume a margarita outside a comedy club, in my humble opinion) is spot-on for a place on Franklin in Greenpoint very close to the Manhattan G stop. Read the only bad reviews of this place. People were looking for frozen margaritas. Please.
