  1. Down the rabbit hole it goes…

I used to enjoy the ice-cream her – the prices were fair, but now in an attempt to take advantage of the suffering consumer during hot summer months, the prices have nearly doubled in an overnight menu change. This is not how to keep customers coming back… and I won't be back.

Look elsewhere if you want one scoop of ice-cream for less than $6.

  2. Cute place! Right off the subway. Great neighborhood to meander around and stopping in here for ice cream is just the right way to start/end your day!

We got vanilla ice cream and mint chip. Oh wow, tasty and very creamy, but not overwhelmingly sweet either. Coming from those store bought mint flavors with artificial coloring and crap, this had a natural and smoother taste.

They also had chocolate chip cookies that were big and enticing to try, but I figured I would use my caloric splurge on the ice cream.

Bright place, not very big, and the day I went there were plenty of families there. Would definitely come back!

  3. My second time getting Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice cream but first time from this location. It was after dinner and dessert is always necessary. Learning from my first time experience, I knew not to get the salted caramel because personally I thought it was too sweet and at times salty (i know! It's salted caramel, it's suppose to taste like that, but as I said, i personally didn't like it). But last time I got the pistachio and I fell in love, I knew this time I had to get it again because that's one flavor I know I can't go wrong with here. Last time my friend got the honeycomb with honeycomb bits in it and she said it was amazing. So this time I got the honeycomb and pistachio. One word, perfect! I would get that same combo over and over again and never be sick or tired of it.

Speaking of it (typing of it now) I think I should go there again soon and get it to remind myself and my tastebuds again how good it is.

There was a long line when I went at this location, but the staff was friendly and had a nice smile on their faces. Always good to see that.

  4. Love their earl grey ice cream! My roommate and I both got a pint to take home. The place is bit pricey – $8.50 for 1 pint, but so good!

  5. Came in late one night and they stayed open just to satisfy 4 of us! Had the vegan mint chocolate and chocolate in a cone, didn't even miss the dairy ONE bit. Chocolate was the most rich I've tasted in a while and mint was very fresh tasting. My one complaint is the cost – way too much for an ice cream people!

  6. On the map it looks like an ice cream shop & for sure it is that. But it also makes a great coffeeshop, and it is in the latter capacity that I have so often enjoyed the place.

Around three years ago now, I discovered this spot.  I was shopping for a new place to live.  And being that is a complicated process, it involved looking at tons & tons of real estate.  I started to circle around this area because I had long been going to Brooklyn Boulders.

Each time I came through, I would stop in here for coffee.  They offer delicious Toby's Estate coffee, which never disappoints.  I would recommend the cold brew & in a glass if at all possible.  It's deliciously sweet without any sugar.  While you're here your ears will also feast on an amazing collection of vinyl records from the eclectic to the classic.  What a way to start your day off right.

The staff here are super nice & friendly, and it seems there's never really a rush.

One other thing I like is that the entire front is glass, so the sun just drenches the place, giving your coffee a double punch to your morning wakeup routine.  🙂

How is it possible I have never reviewed this spot?  Alright well now I have.

  7. SMALL, but cute shop.  I was in the mood- and this satisfied.  I love it when ice cream goes pretentious- so when you're telling me the region from Oregon that my mint (in the mint chip) was harvested and what cacao percentage is in the chips…I gotta smile…smile and shake my head and say- Oh, you…you Van Leeuwen, making the fancy.

But DAMMIT if that a'int a fine cone.  Coffee was really good too- ironic (for this Seattleite) to NOT see regional info on the coffee…but I digress.

Hey Van baby- keep it real and always remember your ABCs…Always…Be…Cool

  8. The ice cream is unfreaking-believable. The ice cream is rich in flavor, creamy, sweet but not overly sweet, and really hits the spot. They have very creative flavors, not just your typical (although they have those too!). My personal favorite is Earl Grey. I also love their cinnamon flavor. It goes so well with their chocolate. This ice cream is just so amazing. I can't rave about it enough. It is pricey but as a once in a while treat, it is totally worth it.
