Vanilla Sky

“There's a similar topping at a 16 handles in the east village that I've been looking for for almost 2 years now and I finally found it here!!!!”

“the area in the back is what truly separates vanilla sky from the other self serve in the area.”

  1. Very modern and clean spot for some frozen yogurt. They have some pretty unique flavors that I've never seen before at 16 Handles (which is my go-to froyo place).  Highly recommend their mango and vanilla sky flavors!!

  2. Vanilla Sky has some things that would merit a 4-star rating. The interior design is cuter than most and specific to them, clearly had some thought put into it. The fruity sorbet flavors were all very good. The coconut is outstanding – actually takes the way coconut flesh does, not overly sweetened. Toppings selection is pretty good. Prices seem standard.

My main bone to pick with them is their namesake flavor, Vanilla Sky – it's awful! Starts out tasting like vanilla, but ends with this incredibly artificial aftertaste that sticks with you. I was rushing to try other favors just to cover it up. I've never had such a negative reaction to a froyo before. I hope it was just a bad mix/off night, or that they can fix it. Totally soured my opinion.

  3. Stopped in here for a little dessert after dinner. I had the cookies and cream flavor with my random toppings like gummy bears, oreo crumbs, and cake bites. lol. Im a child at heart. It was the perfect size for me and I didn't pay over $3.

  4. Self-serve frozen yogurt always has me skeptical. I end up paying way more than I expected and I want to go back to my college days of ordering regularly at my local Red Mango.

But Vanilla Sky for some reason has gotten me back on the frozen yogurt grind. I feel like the value here is always fair and I end up with a decent cup of yogurt and toppings (which always add more weight than expected) for a good price. $5 on average and I walk out super satisfied. I'd stick with their creamier flavors though as the fruity ones I've had tend to be too frozen if that makes any sense. They also have a really cool space in the back to hang out which is a plus.

  5. Not bad but not great either. The froyo was too soft and watery. Staff was amazing though…

  6. So I've yet to try their frozen yogurt but hear me out, mmkay.  I've spent days hanging out here sipping on green tea and using their wifi while mine suffered an outage or conducting interviews of would be roommates.  That being said, this place has an inviting, invigorating sense of charm.  Relaxed, spacious environment where locals hang out.  Spick and span to boot including restrooms.

Pass me a pillow because I'm about to make myself at home 🙂

  7. Vanilla sky is a pretty place.

They have really interesting FROYO flavors, which is pretty awesome.  Though I am often skeptical of pay by weight places, the prices in my experience end up being pretty decent.  They have a good number of add ins that you can use.

The sitting area is really great for a FROYO place.  They have a Television and even outlets to charge a phone.  I was pretty impressed in general by the place in comparison to most other yogurt places.  Though admittedly, it is just FROYO, though with lots of variety, the facilities, the variety, the add ins, and all the other average stuff make this place above average just by being clean, pretty and consistent.  If you are expecting a fancy place full of things your friends can't pronounce, this is not where you find it.  But if you want a clean pretty place to eat FROYO, this will work out nicely.

  8. Don't let the score fool you, this place was pretty delicious and I'd probably go back. In the end, it's just your typical Frozen Yogurt place so don't expect anything game changing. The back lounge area, while cool, is a little dirty. They also let you sample any of the flavors so that was a nice plus to see if it was worth it. I went for the Coconut FroYo and put on all the peanut toppings I could find (a surprising amount).
