  1. This place is no frills as far as table service (you have to order at the counter) but boy oh boy are they GOOD! They get 5 stars just because the food is that good!

Hands down the best carnitas and al pastor I have ever eaten! My wife loved her meal and my oldest did as well. My oldest did not like her watermelon drink and they exchanged it no questions asked.

This place smells wonderful, the food tastes great and it is reasonably priced. You will not regret coming here.

  2. Turned right instead of left on Cinco de Mayo and tastefully ended up here. Waited about 30 mins for takeout but was worth it.

CASH ONLY, order at the far end of the counter. Sip on you aqua fresca while you wait. The salsa bar has self serve green, mild chipotle red, hot sauce, spicy red, onions, cilantro, and pickled jalapeños. My fave is the spicy red!

Tilapia and shrimp tacos were burnt, prob too long on heat bc they were busy. Steak was tender, a little bland but nothing salsa couldn't help. Best part is tortillas are made in-house while you watch!  Guac has delicious taste with a tiny spicy kick and perfect texture!

This place is tied for me with a place up the street but I think there's more TLC here? (My tacos were put on a plate thinking dine in but when they realized, the guy put on gloves and delicately transferred the tacos to a to-go. Dine in food is carefully delivered to the table.

Can't wait to try the other aqua Fresca flavors!

  3. Just beasted 3 tacos after a gym session. I tried thr carne asada al carbon, al pastor and the carnitas michoacanas.  The Al Pastor was my favorite,  very juicy and flavorful. The Carne Asada was my least favorite. The steak was tough and in need of seasoning and marination. Since it was my first time, i sampled all the sauces and really liked the seasoned off red one, even though Im typically a green sauce lover. 3 tacos and a hibiscus- lemonade (copied the order from the guy ahead of me) came out to about $13 which left my belly and pocket full.  I didnt know that guac didnt come with and when i asked, he gave me a spoonful for no charge.  Will be back 🙂

  4. Mad thanks to my boo, Sheila J., for the rec!  Will try to go here every time I'm in the 'hood.  Heck, may even now consider dating folks in this 'hood…just to have an excuse to have more V408!!!

Tie for the best tacos I've had yet in NYC (and the tie is with the Jackson Heights/Elmurst taco trucks….which is saying something!).  Top three burritos….and now I GOTS to get me to Tiajuana if that's where Carnitas Michoacanas Mula originated (hands down the fav item in the order).  I have NEVER had a quesadilla made this way….and kinda NEVER want one made ANY other way!

Quality ingredients all around….some of the best tortillas I've had anywhere….love the mesquite grilling of the meats….supremely fresh, handmade quac at a STEAL of a price…fast delivery….that king taco is a beast (basically a mini burrito disguised as a taco…and they serve steak…not just random mystery meat!)….salsa on point!

    I WANT MORE NOW!!!!

  5. Had never seen this place! When my husband and I walked in, we found that the people who own Rachel's next door. after eating the food, I was surprised because I think this place is a million times better than Rachel's! I ordered the tacos nopalitos and my husband got a carne asada burrito. We also shared chips and guac. Everything was incredible. The flavors were amazing and the food was incredibly authentic. The guac was amazing and the homade torilla chips were incredible. There is a salsa bar and I highly recommend trying all of them! They have different and interesting flavors. So good! There isn't a lot of seating room so keep that in mind when you are going during more busy times. Prices are pretty good too. Will definitely be coming back here!

  6. Awesome place!

Good: As certified Mexican food expert I can guarantee that food here is absolutely amazing. We had two orders of tacos and one burrito between two of us. That was more than enough. One of the best tacos in the city that's for sure! Well done!

Bad: Not enough room, poor selection of drinks, cash only.

  7. You've got to love mexican restaurants as you'll end up walking out so full.  It's so much more worth getting a steak plate here with all the fixings and guacamole than going to Chipotle.  And if you have a larger group, there is a family platter available that'll provide you with enough meat, rice and beans.  Service can be slow but it is worth the wait.

I'll have to deduct a star as this place is CASH ONLY.

  8. I must admit I was pretty upset when the owners of Rachel's took over this place to open yet again another Mexican place! If you live in the neighborhood like me, you know that there is a Mexican or Asian restaurant on every block….

When they first opened I spotted by after hearing how great they were, I tried about four different tacos, two out of the four I enjoyed, but what won me over was the lemonade, hey it's hard to find the perfect lemonade….

But after a while I discovered the burrito bowl (steak) and it's very good. The steak is cool perfectly (skirt steak) the rice & beans are good, so if the guacamole. They also have a little salsa bar here to add more stuff to your food. I never use it because i hate spicy stuff, but my husband always takes advantage of it.

This is a to-go and order at the counter place. No waitress service, you order, take a number, and someone will bring the food to your table. You throw away your own food at the end.

I do like this place more than there sister restaurant Rachel's, mainly because it isn't as crowded, people aren't drinking, and drunk, and there isn't ever a wait. It's a no nonsense place….thankfully!
