Since my last review (three stars for Valentine's Day 2014), I am totally converted to this place for two reasons:
1) AMAZING Happy Hour special
2) Baby Jesus Cake
I just had the most delicious brunch with my family at Venturo Osteria & Wine Bar! Everything was fresh, flavorful and memorable. I savored every last morsel of my biscuit sandwich and home fries. The house-made biscuit and savory tomato jam were like rock stars to my tastebuds. My family also enjoyed the daily omelette and sunnyside eggs. Everyone was commenting on the exceptional flavors of their dish. The wait staff were very friendly and the restaurant was able to accommodate a stroller. I'd love to go go back for dinner sometime soon!
Went here for brunch. Ordered the Il Siciliano. The dish was really nice and well presented. Their house fries are really good too..
Also ordered the Bloody Mary.. Was really weak..
To finish, we also got a Chocolate French Toast which was quite nice.
Overall, quite happy with the experience and service.
Very nice dinner. I had the salad with the figs and the milanese for dinner. A little salty but that might be just me. My pino noir was nice too. My husband had the pork chop and the fresh moz. The pork chop was a nice dinner choice the mozz app was fresh but again a little salty. We tried the jesus cake….. Pretty good and the coffee was good too!
I've lived in the area and prefer going afar to wine and dine, but this place always caught my attention.
After long thought, I decided to check it out with a friend and we both loved it!
Their venue looks like a mixture of a vintage-look and a hipster type of environment. The only reason I was always unsure about entering was the banner/display of the outside wasn't appealing and looked kind of low-scale (no offense).
But however this book shouldnt be judged by it's cover!
Their drinks are very affordably priced, especially during happy hour.
The staff is very friendly and knowledge-able on their menu and can recommend you from their options.
I wouldn't say I'd come here again, NOT because it was bad, but because these are the kinds of places that I just want to try once in a LONG while just because it's in the neighborhood.
I'm glad I live in the neighborhood. A lot of great authentic restaurants are all around like merry-go-round. I was supposed to come here for brunch but didn't realize that they don't serve brunch on weekdays. My best friend and I came here to celebrate her birthday and my graduation all at once and we decided to come here. What a dinner! Everything we had was amazing. They offer happy hour from 4-7 pm (drink or app is $7 each). So we had mussels and margherita pizza happy hour and drink from the list to start. Both starters were started to move my mind! We took our time to dine, no rush, no one's going anywhere after the meal, just relax and catch-up. As you can see, I don't talk a lot about wine selections at any restaurants (maybe I should), this place has a pretty good list. We opened a bottle for dinner (since I don't care much about my happy hour drink), this bottle is from Italy, of course. Happy hour serves in a medium sized plate. It was a delicious mussels and not too salty like some. Pizza was a petite one, thin with bottom crust, just enough for the two of us to enjoy, as a start. After all that, I ordered spaghetti pasta with seafood (crab, shrimp, mussels, roasted tomato, and no clams). No clams! It was still attractive and mouthwatering. To be honest, they did very well on this. If you like seafood pasta, I'd recommend it. The sauce is light and nothing saucery about the plate but the style of cooking is a high standard gourmet style cooking. I've eaten too many of seafood pastas from too many different restaurants. I have a list of where I like them from. This is one of them. You won't be disappointed with this dish. My friend ordered Pork Chop with some kind of citrusy sauce. She loved it so much. The citrus sweet sour from the orange was delicious! I would recommend this to meat lovers. After all that we had no room for desserts. How could I, no room? Yes, honestly speaking, no room to gain weight. We truly enjoyed our dinner. Reasonable price. You pay for the location, atmosphere, and authenticity. Heard that the brunch is one of the best here, maybe I'll try that someday. The restaurant has a small bar with maybe 4-5 stools. The bar has a partial booth at the back, regular tables and high tables at the front. If you come for happy hour, maybe you like to sit at the front with high tables and high chairs. Our waiter could be either the manager or the owner. In this neighborhood most young restaurant owners work as hard as their workers. If I get this right, Bravo to that! Come visit Sunnyside!
Met up with a couple of friends here 2 Fridays ago for dinner. It's an intimate little place that is surprisingly roomy. I found it to be pretty nice that they do not try to pack in as many tables as they possibly can, but actually have tables spaced out very well and allowed for my friends and I to sit pretty comfortably.
We had the second to last table, which is right outside of the serving window. The service was fantastic, the servers work as a team. Would not change a thing about the service, they are attentive and not overbearing. The most surprising thing is if you take a peek over the serving window into the tiny kitchen, you would wonder how they are able to get their food out in such a timely fashion and cooked to perfection.
We ordered a bottle of wine to share and our entrees consisted of mussels(my friend was being a girl and watching his figure), Black & Green Lasagna, Pan Seared Pork Chop and Steak Milanese.
I had the pan seared pork chop. They do not ask how you want it cooked, and much to my surprise, it came out medium, so a little bit of pink, which is the perfect temp for me. It was probably one of the best cooked pork chops I have ever had. On the other hand, the side, root vegetable hash is not something to write home about, way too sweet. I assume that it is an interpretation of pork chops and apple sauce but it literally tasted like I was eating candy.
After finishing our entrees we decided to order some desserts, we had the baby jesus cake and the almond pie. My friend John who is watching his figure creepily smelled the desserts which he could not each. Too bad for him cause the baby jesus cake will literally have you calling out to Jesus. That thing is awesome. Not much to say about the almond pie other than I would not order it again.
Great time, mostly great food and will definitely be coming back. Though the food is probably a 3 or 4 since it's a mixed bag, the overall experience was definitely a 5.
Venturo's a fantastic addition to the Sunnyside food scene. The ambiance is great and quaint. Perfect for a date or a nice evening out with friends. The customer service is always friendly and informative, dishing out info left and right on all those fancy menu items. The food itself is good. Sometimes it can be a bit heavy handed on the salt, but it's good quality at a fair price. This place is not a bargain, nor is it a splurge.
An added bonus is it's menu accomodates most food diets: gluten-free, vegetarian, etc.
House made cheeses are a plus!
