“The atmosphere is so nice and cute, and the food really good too, best paninis in UES.”

Adorable little Italian cafe! Took me back to Italy, where the food was simple and good. They have a million different kinds of paninis. I asked our sever and he recommended the tentazione, which I got, which happened to be delicious. It had prosciutto, smoked mozzarella, rucola, shrimp and was drizzled with some pink sauce. The bread, oh the panini bread! The bread was light and not overly dough-y, I think it had been hollowed out to make room for the ingredients. It was toasted lightly (perfectly, I might add), just enough to give it crunch but not so much that you get a gash in your mouth from the sharp edges when you bite into it. The little shrimp in between the prosciutto were delightful, like getting a surprise – meat inside your meat! The pink sauce was delicious and gave the sandwich the flavorful kick it needed. Loved the portion size too, not too big and too small, just right! My cappuccino was frothy and yummy.
Seating is a bit tight as this is a small space, I'm sure it gets crowded during rush times. Service was no-nonsense and prompt. We were in and out very quickly. I thoroughly enjoyed this cute little lunch spot.
Got take-out lunch from here
Pros:
– Holy moly the tiramisu here is amazing – literally melts in your mouth – yes its $10.50 for a piece (come here with a date so you guys can split the goodie and the bill)
– The tentazione is packed with prosciutto and shrimp – really small sandwich for the price of $13.50 but the ingredients are really fresh; I just wished the baguette was 'slightly' toasted
Cons:
– Pricey
– Small portion sizes
I came here for a quick bite. The paninis are the best things here. I had the roasted pork ones, and instead of Caper sauce I asked for the pink one on the side and they were happy to oblige. The panini was super fresh, really well made, with attention to flavors and combinations and the bread was crispy and perfectly made, not chewy at all. They have a nice space with little cafe tables for cookies and coffee and more space at the back for larger groups. I also tried the gelato and they were not great, the tiramisu totally lost, the caramel not too bad. The service is excellent though and the waiters were quick and efficient.
During my recent trip to NY, I had some free solo time to visit the MET. After about 3.5 hours of walking around, I was ready for a late lunch. I found Via Quadronno via Yelp and decided to drop by.
It's a lovely little cafe, and I loved the ambiance!
When I entered, I had to get the attention of one of the 3 servers who passed me a couple of times to request a seat for lunch. He pointed me to the seat directly in front of the entrance where another diner was just finishing up.
I sat down after a few minutes and was given a menu. The prices seemed a tad high, but acceptable for UES. Although $8 for a bottle of Peroni!?!?
I ordered the simple pancetta panini with mustard, and it was delicious! Simple – but delicious.
I wouldn't say amazing.
Overall, a lovely place to cozy up with your date, or even have a peaceful meal by yourself.
Trusty yelp app strikes again! Straight win leading me here…. Came here with a friend pre concert at Central Park… We wanted to just grab a quick bite so we ordered the granseola al palmiere and crostini do polenta … GET IN HERE AND ORDER THE POLENTA…. I love polenta .. You can have it multiple ways for breakfast, lunch, and dinner .. I like that about polenta… Anyway, I had it with melted Swiss cheese all over it and it was extremely rich but light tasting at the same time.. The perfect mix of cheese and polenta in one bite… We really enjoyed that dish..
The other was the granseola al palmiere which was lump crab meat over asparagus and tomatoes on the side… The crab meat was fresh and there was a good sized portion and the asparagus was nice and sautéed .. This is a cold dish..
I thought our ordering combo was good.. The hot and cold dishes really hit the spot and I would def come here again and I highly recommend it..
I plan on revisiting for the tiramisu and cappuccino
Try to grab a spot by the one window unless if you like cavernous decor. Mimosa was so so but the panninis are consistently delicious. Good Italian beer selection as well according to him. Ended our brunch with the tri gelato and it did not disappoint.
VQ is my favorite coffee shop on the upper east side. I love to come here for their cappuccino and panini during the afternoon. The restaurant is small (it has a back room) and it gets filled up quickly during lunchtime. They are famous for their cappuccino but their other espresso drinks are good also. If you liked panini, definitely try one of their paninis here. The bread's toasted just right, so it's crispy and flaky, the meats sandwiched between the 2 slices of bread (depending on what you order) make the panini so heavenly delicious. They also have pasta and deserts on the menu which I am sure are good as well, but get their paninis!!! Forget about Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts, next time, bring a friend to visit VQ and have a lunch & coffee break there. The owner and servers there are very nice. I even got free cookies one time when I went there with my sister :).
My favorite cafe to visit before or after a day at the Met. The paninis are delicious and the meats are high quality. The insalata di capri is one of the best I've had anywhere. I'm not a coffee drinker but the friends I've gone with have spoken highly of their drinks. Service is great although I prefer to sit in the back or in the front windows as the area by the bar can feel a little hectic.
