I'm pretty sure that I'd eaten here before, but the meal was not memorable. Let's pretend that turns into a three star rating. However, after getting delivery last night, I'd quickly dock the star.
The pizza alla fortunato sounds good. Roasted peppers, sauteed onions, spinach, roasted garlic, plum tomatoes, fresh mushrooms, and mozzarella cheese. Yes please! However they failed to mention that even despite all of this, the pizza was bland. Like crazy bland. I don't know if the vegetables were bad or what. They also probably threw them on raw, because the pie was much too wet. So disappointing.
The Caesar salad was pretty bad as well. Marginal lettuce, watery dressing from a plastic bottle, and bland (sense a theme here?) croutons.
The garlic knots were garlic-ey, but the delivery guy forgot them the first time around. And the order didn't show up in their estimated delivery time, despite it being a Sunday night, which is typically slow, and me living a few blocks from the place.
New York does not lack pizza options. Go somewhere else. Not here.
We've eaten here a couple times, both fantastic. My boyfriend swears by their meatball subs. I've gotten Caesar salad and garlic bread (not Caesar dressing from a bottle! Yay!) one time and a spinach slice and cannoli the other. Everything I've had was fantastic, and the spinach pizza was probably better than the very famous stuff at artichoke basille- especially with a little bit of garlic powder (which they have on the counter with the red pepper and salt and such) -better crust, plus half the price. Will definitely be back!
