Village Asian Fusion
“Beautiful pan-Asian restaurant (Japanese, Chinese, Thai) with extensive menu.”
“The chicken was cooked well, served with a variety of vegetables such as asparagus, zucchini, broccoli, etc. The Sambal sauce was really powerful, although it did not overpower any of the elements.”

I came here to meet up with a long time friend. There was parking right in front which was awesome since it was a very cold night.
I was impressed by how fancy their menus were.
We shared the rock shrimp and then I got the chicken teriyaki bento box as my entree since I wasn't in the mood for sushi.
The rock shrimp was delicious and a good size. My entree was plenty and everything was delicious, it was too much for me and I ended up taking half of my chicken home.
As we were catching up one employee came by giving all the customers hats and wishing all of us a happy new year which I thought it was a nice touch.
This is a newer place in the area, we were with friends and decided to give it a try. It is a mix between Chinese and Sushi. It has a small sushi bar and a bunch of tables, booths and a bar.
We all ordered sushi with the exception that I added wonton soup to my order. The soup was disappointing, not your typical wonton soup, the wontons were wrapped in a rice paper instead of traditional wonton and the broth was too plain for my liking.
As far as the sushi went, it was good but nothing amazing and it was very expensive but I imagine its because of the location. They were out of tuna and that makes up most of the rolls, we substituted shrimp in one roll and you hardly knew it was there.
The service was good, the waiter was constantly filling our tea cups and by the way the green tea was delicious, not at all bitter.
Yet another sushi spot to open in Great Neck (as if we didn't already have enough), and I'm pleasantly surprised. My go-to restaurant was going under renovations so I figured I'd try Village. Their menu arrives in my mailbox regularly so why not?
Since they didn't have my usual appetizer, salmon tartare, I asked if they could make it. They did and it was amazing. So fresh, so flavorful, and the dressing on the salad it came nestled on was very good. My entree was tofu in black bean sauce and it was actually equally as good as the one I get from my regular place! The service was good and my food was ready quickly. I'll be back for sure.
Stopped in for lunch today and was told they just opened up on Friday.
POSITIVES:
– Location
– Brand new, lovely interior (simple and clean looking )
– Very friendly hostess who chatted it up with us and seemed very eager to please us
– Plenty of street parking out front and in the back. $0.25 gets you an hour in Great Neck.
– Large, diverse menu
– Pricing is fair, especially for this area and based on the quality of the venue itself
– Adequate amount of food for the price, even on lunch specials
COULD BE/GET BETTER:
– Food was okay as far as flavor goes. Could use a bit more punch, maybe more sauce in general.
– Service was friendly but they were not in tune with some needs such as needing refills on our drinks
– The above could be attributed to the staff chatting up front with each other rather than being near where we were sitting
– When meal was finished, one of the servers cleared our table and asked "you want the check, right?". While we weren't necessarily looking to order dessert, we thought it was weird they didn't even offer. It wasn't like the place was busy and they were waiting to turn over the table to the next party. They didn't do themselves any favors here.
NEGATIVES:
– Nothing to really complain about but, if you twisted my arm, I would say that they could have paid closer attention to us after we got our food and before we got our check.
I would give some other items on the menu a shot if we do come back. The rolls that my wife ordered were decent but not spectacular and my chicken and string beans in garlic sauce, too, was fine but nothing special. As for my meal, I think if they just added a little more garlic sauce it would have made a world of difference. The plating was nice and thoughtfully done. Clean and efficient, like the venue itself.
I'm giving this review three stars for now, although it's probably closer to three and a half stars, and I'm leaving a little room here for a better experience and a higher rating next time.
