  1. I had pizza from this restaurant a few months ago and it was pretty good. The plain pie had good flavor and the buffalo chicken pie was pretty good too. I can't say anything about the restaurant itself as we got take out, but the pizza is worth it and I'd probably get a pie from here again.

  2. Decent pizza right by the south orange train station. Many options by the slice. No delivery however.  I had a white pizza with fresh tomatoes and basil, while decent I wasn't blown away. I also sampled my husbands buffalo chicken pizza and didn't love it although he seemed to enjoy it.

  3. I had the drunken grandma which is like a caprese pizza with vodka sauce instead of marinara and it's a pretty solid pie. The calamari was also notably good.

  4. Decent place for quick slices. Have lots of specialty pizzas. I got a cheese slice and a buffalo chicken ranch place. Like I said good but not excellent. Slices range from $2 to $3

  5. This area has a lot of pizza places to choose from. It's not the cheapest of them, but I dare say it's the best. There is a large selection of specialty pizzas and toppings including the buffalo chicken and my favorite penne pizza. The dining area is large and the service is quick. They have a large selection of other things to eat typical to a pizza place. They also have drinks unique to here, such as the trattoria ginger ale. I'd recommend here, but if you're watching your wallet, try pirates or 'village' pizza further up in town.

  6. Good solid Italian-American food better than you would expect for such a casual place.  Wait staff is friendly and environment is clean.  The first time I came I felt very comfortable, as if I had been coming for years, and that's probably one of the best comments a yelper can give.

  7. We've been here on numerous occasions, most of time we're do full we lazily forget to rate this trattoria. The pizze' are great, particularly the Greek salad pizza. Took a little while, but we guessed the oven was on lazy mode today.
    Enjoy!

  8. So, I don't mean to be a hater or anything here, but I like the one in Maplewood Village much better. Village Trattoria in South Orange on Vose is fine. There's nothing wrong with it. It has lots of things going for it – many different slices to choose (and all delicious), great location by the train station and heart of the village… but the food is just OK.

My friends and I went to the Maplewood VT for dinner first. We were a large group, so it was a feast that night. We ordered calamari, salads, pizza, and pastas (with vodka sauce), and of course ate family-style so each of us could get a little taste of everything.   It was an absolute feast and everything we tasted amazing.

So when my friend came to visit me and we went to the South Orange one, we were expecting the same life-changer experience. The disappointment was sobering. Pizza was great, but the pasta. It wasn't like S'barros, but it wasn't that much better. Other than the pizza, the food is nothing to rave about. If you have a choice, go to the Village Trattoria in Maplewood.
