I came here trying to track down a very specific, hard to find bottle of wine — a pét-nat (pétillant naturel, an unfiltered, lightly bubbly style of wine) that I'd had at the restaurant Wildair on the LES. In search of this particular wine by Sébastien Brunet, I had been to Total Wine, Astor Wines & Spirits, and a few smaller shops, to no avail. Finally, I did a little more Googling, and I found that Vin des Amis appeared to be the only stockist of my wine in NYC!
I hoofed down to this small, cute storefront, and saw that a tiny tasting was going on inside; it almost felt weird to interrupt. Nevertheless, after aimlessly searching for my wine for a few moments, I asked one of the two pleasant gentlemen running the store for some assistance. They miraculously produced the last bottle in stock from the petite fridge up front, and rang me up on their iPad/Square register. I was in and out of the store in record time, and was thrilled with my luck. I did have a chance to check out their selection a little bit as I was skimming the shelves for my wine, and they have a lot of reasonably priced, well-curated bottles. I'd definitely come back when I'm not so single-mindedly pét-nat crazy!
