Vineapple
“I love that you can order wine and cozy up on the couches or even that you can tag the walls in the bathroom with chalk.”
“The coffee is uniformly excellent, as expected for a venue which serves Stumptown.”
“Outlets are abundant, so you will never run out of juice, but wi-fi can be a bit spotty, and I've had better coffee.”

After being battered by the blistering strong wind and utter cold of Hurricane Joaquin October 2015, my party of two trekked to Vineapple on Pineapple Street in Brooklyn, NY for warmth of a local coffee house. Cozy atmosphere with chairs, couch, bar stools, tables and bar counter equipped for patrons seeking stillness of inner peace, power and WiFi signal for tech gadgets, reading newspapers or engaging in a book for solitude. Modern and clean with a simple look. The staff allow patrons to sit for hours or at least when it gets busy.
With great disappoint, no more chocolate chip cookies. No classic chocolate pastries as chocolate croissant, or chocolate donut, or chocolate brownie. I opt for a hot Jasmine Green Tea. All teas are from Harney & Sons. Teas and coffee are served in disposable paper cups rather than actual china when dinning in fending a cheap quality atmosphere of this business. Servers are average robots who appears apathetic and extremely STOLID without compassion for my great abiding passion for my favorite sweet: chocolate chip cookie (without nuts). The absence of chocolate chip cookies with a cup of tea or coffee in a coffee house drains the mood and brings darkness to one's spirit. Despite the horrible weather I made my trek to my local pharmacy to attain chocolate chip cookies for enjoyment in the comfort of my own home.
Note: Credit card purchase is $8.00 minimum. MEH! Their business card also serves as a loyalty card for the tenth drink is free.
Quiet. It has WiFi and large tables. A good place to get some work done without the owners trying to kick you out (like in the city).
The music is shitty though with mostly top 40 pops.
The coffee shop is nice. The quality is ok. It depends on whose behind the counter. I like the area. The shop has a chill vibe. This kind of place you can't go too wrong with ordering a latte. So if you are looking for a recommendation I'd say go that route at vineapple. I will say is the better off coffee shops in brooklyn heights.
Things that are great: the space, atmosphere, and location. It's quiet, and a great place to do work.
Things that are not good: the staff; they're quite unfriendly
When I used to live in BK Heights, that was my favorite place. I have really good memories of this place.
This is my favorite coffee spot in the neighborhood. With its well-made coffee served in mismatched cups, nice selection of baked goods with gluten-free options, variety of draft beers and wines, and photo of Bernie Sanders actually at Vineapple perched against the Chardonney, it's as Brooklyn as Brooklyn can be.
I spent more time here as a student; its great for a change of scenery when one gets stir crazy being locked up in a studio writing a thesis. I have fond memories of banging out a final paper while seated at the bar, hopped up on Stumptown cold brewed coffee. This is one of those coffee shops where you actually CAN do work because the other patrons are quietly doing the same. Far better environment than Bobst at NYU, in my opinion.
As a full-fledged adult, this is also a great spot to escape to while brokers show your aforementioned studio to potential renters. I will miss this spot dearly when I move out of the neighborhood.
The quiet and cozy atmosphere coupled with steady wifi, makes this a perfect place for studying and getting work done.
Alternatively, it's a great place to escape the bustle of smorgasburg.
A few weeks ago I was walking around the neighborhood and was perusing Yelp for a coffee shop nearby. From the photos and reviews, this place looked like it'd be a great choice — and I do think it was a good choice. Just a few things weren't that fabulous. :/
I really only wanted coffee, but I only had my debit card on me, so I unfortunately had to spend at least $8 to meet the minimum. I ordered a sandwich with my coffee, which I suppose I made myself get excited for, since I paid for it.
I'm not sure if sandwiches usually take a long time or if it was because the woman behind the counter was texting without looking up once for — and I am truly not exaggerating — about 10-15 minutes, but since I wasn't told where to wait or when it'd come out, I found myself kind of staring at the counter for that period of time.
Maybe she was being lax because I wasn't asked if I was taking it to go, even though my coffee had been given to me in a to-go container. Maybe she thought I was gonna be hanging out there for awhile and I wouldn't mind waiting. If you're in a hurry and just want coffee, I'd say go for it and visit this place, but if you're in a hurry for food, I'd say probably go somewhere nearby.
Maybe the food doesn't normally take that long and I wasn't very important. Maybe she wasn't in the best mood. Maybe she was dealing with a family crisis. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but still, it seemed like maybe she just didn't care.
The sandwich was delicious and the coffee was great, too. But the service wasn't fabulous and I felt a little bit of coldness from the lady behind the counter.
