  1. Vino Tapa has a great happy hour and offered every day from 5-8pm ($5 house wine or sangria, and $7 on select wine). They also take reservations which is a plus – you don't have to rush after work to beat the crowd.

I have been here multiple times and tried a variety of tapas. Some are great, and some just mediocre. The chorizo ($10) was a disappointment, however the flatbreads ($10-$12) and mussels ($16) were great. My favorite is the beef short rib ($19) – the meat is so tender and the potatoes soak in the sauce. There's a good variety of food options offered on the menu depending on your mood.

The interior is cozy with dim lighting, and the tables are pushed very close together. This is definitely a great place for happy hour, and/or to catch up with friends. I always order their red sangria and $5 for a glass is a steal!

  2. Excellent happy hour deal. Wine, beer, sangria and well drinks for $5!! Don't forget to check in for free spiced nuts.

Unfortunately, the tapas fell short. The short rib with potatoes was the best dish. I would not recommend anything else. It was tender, fatty, and flavorful. I would definitely eat this again. The ceviche was lacked flavor. Since this is a Spanish tapa restaurant I expected to get the standard ceviche. However, what arrived at my table was a bed of baby calamari over a questionable orange sauce. It was not bad because it didn't taste like anything. I really wish there was more lime juice, salt, or pepper. The bacon was okay, but nothing special. The same goes for the cheese plate.

I really enjoyed the outdoor dining area.

  3. Great tapas place in Murray Hill. Have come here on numerous occasions with friends. Staff is always friendly and there's rarely a wait.

    My favorites are:
    * Pan Con Tomate – essentially bruschetta, but something about either be bread or the tomato garlic sauce makes it one of the best I've ever had ! The bread is crust, and the tomatoes just melt in your mouth
    * Chorizo – comes in a white wine and garlic sauce. Staple meat to add to your tapas
    * Albondigas – beef and pork meatballs. These are quite delicious as well! The meatballs are juicy and super savory
    * Shrimp – simply sautéed. Pretty solid, but could go without this dish
    * Beef Short Rib – MUST HAVE! This fish is pretty heavy, but the beef just melts in your mouth. It's full of flavor and perfectly seasoned. One of my favorites here for sure
    * Brussel Sprouts – pretty standard (maybe a bit more bitter than others I've had), but good to add some veggies in the mix!

  4. Great Happy hour from 5-8pm daily. I recommend the red sangria ($5); the glass is huge and I was happy with two sangrias (usually takes me 3+ to get there). They have a bunch of beer options too.

There's plenty of seating and it's not as crowded as i thought a place with a happy hour till 8PM would be. One downside is that there's only one bathroom; for a place with a great happy hour and lot's of drinking going on, I'd imagine they'd have more than one bathroom.. throughout the night I found there were lines every single time I/my friends needed to go. And there's not that much space to "line up". That situation aside, hey, GREAT DRINKS!

Food: I'd recommend the meatballs over the chorizo. The chorizo was a bit dry in my mind, but the meatballs were juicy and savory (could have used more pepper though, there was a distinct smell that didn't sit perfectly well with me). What surprised me was the Tosta con boquerones (sardines). It was really good and interesting – lots of sourness – BUT i'd say you should split it with someone because chowing down four of them was difficult. The beet pickled hard boiled egg nicely negated the sardines.

  5. Dropped by after a busy day of running errands and Doctor appointments. Caught the tail end of happy hour, had the red and white sangria- liking the white better. Had a few light bites and was satisfied with food- taste and service. It's a nice space for both a casual date with a friend or a first date. Lots of locals and regulars frequent this place. Would def come back!

  6. Came for happy hour on a Thursday and it was jam packed! Luckily there were still seats outside, and we decided to take them even though it was super hot out. The waitress helped out by immediately offering us ice water and nice cold sangria. The red sangria was super delicious and strong! I had two and was definitely buzzed.

Foodwise my friend and I shared the bacon, octopus, albindigas, Brussels sprouts, and pan con tomate. All were delicious. Standouts for me were the bacon and Brussels sprouts for sure.

Service was quick and friendly, even though everyone was inside and we were one of the few tables outside. Happy hour is a super good deal – $5 drinks from 5-8pm! I'll definitely be back for this and look forward to trying more of the many tapas they offer.

  7. WHY DO I ALWAYS FORGET TO REDEEM MY CHECK-IN OFFER *cries*

I was pretty surprised by how great their food is. Originally wanted to go to another place for HH but it was packed so my friend and I decided to pick a nearby place and this came up so our expectations weren't set high at all.

Ordered the Tosta con Pulpo, which is sautéed grilled octopus, flatbread which has bacon and brussel sprouts, chorizo, and red wine to company these amazing foods. I, wholeheartedly, recommend you each and every one of these dishes because they're just that good! The sautéed grilled octopus is a must try if you want to get only one thing.

Oh and don't forget to check in and get them spiced nuts. I'm definitely going back for them cause who doesn't like free stuff?!

  8. Decent wine bar but appears to have a poor selection of wine. This place is definitely quantity over quality. I wouldn't come back here if I wanted good wine. Retail cost of their wines were no more then $20 at a wine store. I don't even remember which wine I had because I don't think it tasted that good.
However, we did order some food and that was alright. We had their pan con tomate (I've been to Barcelona and this is like 2/10 but for NYC its like 6/10). We also shared their meat and cheese platter (nothing special) and for entree we split the beef short rib (very tasty and slow cooked).

Our bill was like $100 + tax and tip.
