  1. Vivi bubbletea is very typical of all the other bubbletea places in Chinatown. Though, I will say that the bbt here is made a bit sweeter than places like Gong Cha and Kung fu tea. I got a mango tea for $3, which I think might be the cheapest thing on the menu. It was refreshing with the lychee jelly, especially on a hot day.

  2. After fighting through a claustrophobia-inducing (it seems as if there's an option to either have an open or closed storefront and it was closed when I went, so a good 10-15 people were crammed inside the small space) crowd, I was quite excited when I ordered my peach jelly tea. The description boasted jelly and real fruit inside for a reasonable price. My excitement melted away after my first sip though. The tea tasted as if someone had poured canned peach syrup into green tea. It actually may have been; the fruit was certainly from a tin or plastic cup.

What gets this place a one-star rating (as opposed to two) from me was the jelly though. It wasn't peach as I had hoped, but flavorless gelatin. You know – the clear kind. It had been dyed a washed-out peach color from the tea, but still tasted like nothing.

I've had mediocre bubble tea before, but this one really was actively bad.

  3. Fast service, but the drinks aren't good. We ordered 6 drinks and only 1 was good. The drinks are really watered down.

I had the 3Q Milk Tea which is their milk tea with tapioca, egg pudding, and herbal jelly. The tapioca itself isn't sweet and memorable. The texture is good, though. Herb jelly and egg pudding tastes good and like how they should be.

    I wouldn't come back.

There is a stamp card for buy 10, get a regular milk tea for free.

  4. I want to be clear: I m not reviewing the shop neither the juice but just the bubble tapioca in it. There were too much tapioca. I thought I liked it and I didn't so it ruined my bubble tea experience. Not their fault. the juice (beside the tapioca) was good . I had hobey and jasmin. Maybe a slightly too sweet for me. But if you are sure to like bubble tea, go ahead. You will love it. to answer the question: are they round tapioca bubbles or square. I can confirm that bubble are round.

  5. Just a normal bubble tea place with a decent amount of options.  Tasted fine as it should and the prices were reasonable.  This is a good spot if you are in the area but not worth going out of your way for.

  6. Well, it was BOGO for 3Q bubble tea (tapioca, pudding, and grass jelly).  Regular price is $3.50 on the menu boards, but for some reason, if you want the BOGO, its $4?  A bit sketchy if you ask me.  Also, earlier that day, my friend ordered a 3Q and didn't know about the BOGO offer and they didn't even offer it to her.  Ugh.

This was my first time trying Vivi after much, much hesitation.  I've been told by others that Vivi was "pretty good" compared to the other shops around town.  I asked for less cream/milk in my tea… couldn't really tell the difference.  The taste of the tea is great but if you're looking for a refreshing drink, this probably isn't your cup of tea (haha…).  The tapioca was too chewy and undercooked and tasteless.  Grass jelly and pudding were comparable to other bubble tea places.

Probably would not choose Vivi over Kung Fu Tea.

  7. Really enjoyed the red bean matcha, though it was a tad too sweet. They have the stamp card where its buy 6 and get 1 free! My boyfriend really enjoyed the moo milk. I really liked their popcorn chicken but I was the only one in line and still had to wait ~10-15 mins for it. Guess thats a good thing right?.. Means it came out fresh. I hope. Well, i'll probably be back to fill up my stamp card.

    4 stars for service
3 stars for drink + food
3 stars for ambience (felt a bit cramped in there)

  8. Summary:  Great selection of basic bubble teas done well.  They are slightly cheaper than most and don't go over syrup.  Get the popcorn chicken. It's delicious.

Price: At $3.50, the tea is one of the cheaper easy staples. No credit cards and no bills over $20. Normally, people have smaller bills, but there are a couple of ATM's in Chinatown that only give you a $50.

Location:  If you have any room in your tummy post dim sum at either Golden Unicorn or dim sum go go, this place is not a bad stop.

Food:  Popcorn Chicken!  I adore thee.  It is so share-able and delicious as you walk through Chinatown.

Tea:  Solid execution.  They have aloe, which I prefer to bubbles.
