For a sushi place in Bayonne, this place is on point and fresh!
I went for lunch during the week, not crowded at all. They have great lunch specials too. I wanted to order the sashimi lunch, which was $10 with 8 pieces of assorted sushi. Only problem is I don't like salmon and the waitress wouldn't tell me if salmon came with it or if I could request no salmon. That was disappointing so I ordered something else, but ended up being very happy with the quality of the food.
Pros:
-Some can order hibachi, others off the regular menu
-nice decor, some hibachi tables but also booths in the back
-good prices for lunch specials
-Tuna tataki was fresh and delicious
-Octopus sashimi fresh and served exactly how I like
Cons:
-The do not have a liquor license, are NOT BYOB … and do not have free refills on soft drinks. After we paid the check the waitress rang up another check for a refill of soda – $2.10! I guess without a liquor license every doller counts.
-Waitress not friendly
I had a great experience in this little sushi place. We came on a weeknight to satisfy our sushi craving. We were welcomed at the door and sat immediately, since it was very slow.
The waitress was nice and we received etamame on the house as an appetizer. Some of the sushi we enjoyed was the spicy dragon and the spicy girl. The sushi here was excellent! There was plenty of choices to select from.
To top it all off the waitress applied a small discount. The service was excellent and it
was pretty inexpensive for a sushi experience. I would definitely come back again!
I had a wonderful time here at Volcano. I visited on a weekday, so we were seated very quickly. That night we only ventured there to fill a sushi craving but the restaurant does offer hibachi as well if you are interested. It's not a large establishment however the service and food was definitely of a high standard. We started with an order of edamame that was on the house courtesy of Volcano. Then I ordered the special eel roll and the special dragon roll. Both were very delicious as well as the edamame. The staff was attentive and helpful too. To top it all off when we received our check there was a small discount applied as well. That was so thoughtful and nice of them!! I wouldn't have mind paying without it with the experience I had. When I return I must try the hibachi.
I did take out and while I wasn't crazy about what I got I could still tell the food was good quality and fresh. I will go with something less spicy next time.
