“I actually visited on a whim, the same weekend I finally discovered my new beloved sushi spot, Bozu, so on the heels of that one might say Wasabi had a lot to live up to.”

went here with a groupon and ordered a sushi and sashimi set, lobster roll, and spicy girl roll. the sushi was actually great – i was pleasantly surprised for the quality of sushi at an inexpensive restaurant. the rolls were delicious and the sashimi was good, especially the salmon.
we got the green tea fried ice cream (decent, not great) and mango mochi (yummm) for dessert.
i really liked the food especially for the price, but the experience was somewhat dampened by the service. there were only two waitresses for maybe 5 tables plus handling all the delivery/takeout orders, so it took a really long time in between courses and to get the bill, etc.
oh well – the place is in a fun spot off the nassau stop in bk and i liked the food!
I discovered Wasabi during my last trip to NY and I have to say it wasn't that bad!
I must admit I was a bit confused about the sushi wrapped in small individual plastic bag (not eco friendly at all) and the interior design is not really my type.
I knew when I entered in that it won't be the experience of a lifetime (come on, who will, seriously) but for the rest, I ate well, wasn't broke at the end and not sick.
Ok 5 stars is bit too much but I can't help it!
I love their sushi! I wish they were in Poland! When I'm in NYC I try to visit as muuch as posiible.
The restaurat it's ok, I preffer to take my order to go and eat it at my place.
The sushi is always fresh and very tasty. The prices are great 4-6 dollars a roll. They have great lunch deal $7,50 for 2 rolls + soup/salad and $10.50 for 3 rolls + soup/salad.
I never tried anything else than sushi so can't really tell if it's good.
If you in neighbourhood just come in for a taste!
Came as a Groupon gift from a friend.
Here goes…
– Didn't seem very friendly when my gf and I arrived. Asked if they would take the Groupon and the waiter dismissively told me to just show it when we get the check.
– Appetizer plates not cleared until main courses arrived…as workers hung out by the side
– Glanced over and saw the two waiters eating and using their cell phones.
– Workers seemed upset to pour me more water
– sushi was warm…warm!
– pink fish cake in soup noodles tasted rubbery
– fried Shiumai tasted like the Chinese-Americanized type you would get from a AYCE buffet.
On the bright side, my Pork Katsu bowl was hearty.
Not sure if this is the right way to phrase it, but this place tasted more quick Chinese take out than elegant Japanese restaurant.
I am reviewing this in terms of a medium run of the mill sushi place. It is not in the same category as amazing places like Bozu but it is good for the no frills class of sushi it obviously is.
The uni was fresh, which is always a good sign. The sushi chef was so nice and chatted with me and gave me a little extra "special" sushi with my meal.
I ordered a taco salad which I expected to be just octopus, but it was actually very large and had a lot of octopus on greens.
The rest of my sushi was good for the price. I will return.
I came here late on a Saturday night. It was just about to close but we didn't feel rushed. We made our order and tried several types of rolls. The food came to the table fairly quickly and man oh man was it good!
I don't know if it's because it's in Greene point but the seafood in this area is so fresh! The fish didn't taste fishy or bland it tasted like the ocean. We were so sad that we didn't order more. Sadly they were closing up shop and we couldn't order more sushi.
However the small amount we did get to savor was enough to let you know this place is amazing! The service was good and the atmosphere is nice. It's perfect for a date night. Head over and enjoy some super solid sushi!
I'm never in this part of Brooklyn so eating here was just a matter of convenience, but it was delicious enough. My roommate and I both got the 3 roll lunch special which comes with miso soup or a salad. I got the salmon, salmon avocado, and the spicy yellowtail jalapeño scallion roll. Regardless of where I'm eating my favorite roll is usually salmon, but for once it wasn't. The yellowtail was fantastic, a great spice level and the scallions and jalapeño gave it a nice crunch. Not a lot of places have the options of yellowtail with scallions AND jalapeno, usually it's one or the other. So that's nice. Other than that the rolls were ordinary, nothing special but still good. I've had identical salmon rolls at my local sushi place. If you're in the area come here for the lunch special, they have a wide range of rolls. I doubt I'll ever eat here again, mostly because I'm never in this area, but I do recommend it.
I came here with my boyfriend and two friends and we had a blast.
We ended up sharing quite a few rolls between us and they were all really delicious. There was one that had tempura shrimp which was especially amazing. And the miso soup was so comforting and so essential for these cold winter months.
This is not my neighborhood but I would recommend.
