Small cafe with 5/6 spaces for seating, but veryy solid menu for what ever meal you're craving for the day. If you're an early riser with a stomach for lunch foods do not worry because they offer it in the early morn' as well.
$$$: 6 dollars for a iced chai is not what I call cheap, but if you order with cups app, you can easily bump it down to $3.40 for a cup. if you're gonna sign up, use my code [QAVZB] for $10 off a plan!
food: i got a simple grilled cheese for 5.50 with a tomato on top for an extra dollar. perfectly grilled, melted, and tomato was a perfect touch. could not have asked for a better grilled cheese, it didn't leave me feeling overly guilty or greasy. my friend got le pilar for 8.50 and although it was certainly a very yummy sandwich, i feel like it was skimping on some ingredients to match its price.
staff: friendly, all smiles, helped me use my CUPS app, and caught them scooping out the avocado goodness out of its shells – which means it's certainly fresh!
avocados: i came at 12 and they weren't quite ready to serve avocados because they didn't make their avocado concoction yet – oh well, maybe next time! & yes, avocados deserve their own section.
Compelling menu and the food is pretty good across the board. This spot sees a fair amount of brunch traffic on weekends with interesting and fairly reasonable egg sandwiches and the like but the kitchen is totally overwhelmed when more than a few orders are in queue.
An avocado toast ordered on Sunday took 40 minutes to be served. Avocado. On toast. I don't expect quality food to be ready on the spot but this was perplexing! While waiting I watched nearly every customer deal with issues around us:
"Sorry we just served that guy over there the sandwich you ordered" as the manager(?) motions to a customer chewing within earshot about 5 ft away so we can all turn and awkwardly stare at him
"Are you waiting on food? What did you order? Oh we will start on it now sorry, we must have lost track" heard this one maybe three times in 40 minutes
This is a cute, tiny joint with very few tables and about 4 staff behind the counter. They serve Toby's estate coffee – my drip was great.
They are very apologetic and may comp you something small as your wait drags on, but I'm really confused how things can go so wrong with a small menu in a small place? I wouldn't ding them with a negative review if it were a one off incident. Unfortunately the staff has been struggling in one way or another 3 of the 3 times I've been here.
TLDR: Consider other spots in the hood if you would like to eat within 40 minutes of ordering your food.
I've changed my opinion of this place solely based on the pao de quejo and drink options. I cannot speak of the food itself but I had a previously bad experience with a to go option.
Still they offer these little delicious cheese balls with potent garlic inside and a pinch of salt on top that are mild yet explosive when you eat them. I currently have garlic breath that I'm combating with a matcha latte.
The matcha latte was a serious upgrade to their drink menu even though the coffee beans are good and the espresso drinks worth the stop.
The space itself has been connected to a Netflix capable device that was streaming nature shows on the wall on this early Saturday night. Guess that's one way to spend a Saturday!
Pretty weak avocado toast. Unlike the hip Australian joints, they don't use fresh avocados but instead use some over-whipped guac-like avocado puree out of a jar. The seasoning was also really off. Tiny kitchen had one stove for frying eggs.
Here's another place where I wish I could give a better rating to, but a couple of things really held me back. The good things are plenty:
– The staff is cool. The girl who appeared to be the manager or owner was super sweet and hard-working, and the big guy behind the counter was a character. He could be taken the wrong way, and if he is you can think he's inattentive, bothered, etc. But I thought he was a very typical New Yorker who comes off that way but was very conversational and took care of you.
– The space is smallish but had several tables on one side and 5-6 bar stools along the counter facing out to the streets on another side.
– They featured very interesting Greek wines, along with some others, that made for interesting tasting. $11 a pop though so they're not necessarily cheap…
What really prevented me from giving it the additional star were:
– The food was okay, but not yummy good. The menu is simple so maybe they are not specializing in this, but as a wine bar I think it could use an uptick in either the menu or the sophistication of the food. I had the grilled cheese with ham and it was like any other anywhere except with really good bread. Very simple, just ham with cheese.
– The ambiance – being a coffee & wine bar, I expect it to be a bit more trendy, moody, loungy, or something similar. It was actually quite homey, which didn't fit very well with the "wine bar" part of the establishment. It certainly compares quite disfavorably to Ost in this respect.
So really, if they switch things up slightly I think this will be a really cool place. I really want this place to do well if for nothing other than the owner/manager girl who was putting her all into that place.

I actually loved this little place. Despite the past reviews, I really liked everything about it. It was a small, trendy cafe with a pretty great menu of both breakfast, coffee, and lunch options. Since I'm almost always craving breakfast foods, i decided to get an egg white pesto sandwich on multigrain. Seriously, it was so good. The pesto lemon taste went perfectly with the egg. Left me craving more.
Other than that, the service was a little slow, but it wasn't to the point where it became a problem. It's a good place if you're grabbing coffee or a small meal with a friend or starving while running errands (like myself).

It is a relatively small coffee shop and eatery. There is probably around 15 seats inside with an outside table for those wanting an al freso experience. I really like how they have signs designating where Laptop users should sit. I ordered an Ice Coffee using the Cups App. It came in a standard clear plastic cup. They use cold draft ice to not dilute the product. The coffee was very medium in all aspects. The coffee hit the spot. Lastly, they hand stampe their logo on their hot beverage sleeves which I think is a nice touch. The service was friendly. No Complaints Here.
