WAZA Sushi & Ramen
“The decor is cute with chalk drawings on the walls and their staff moves quickly.”
“Would recommend this place — they are really going to give Yamashiro a run for their money, and now I think I will choose this place over Wasabi on Fulton!”
“I won't go as far as to compare heir ramen with Ippudo or Totto though, because that would be the same as trying to compare Longchamp with Louis Vuitton.”

Not bad, not bad. Spent $12 on 2 pork bun appetizers, and a sweet potato roll.
The sweet potato roll was warm and crispy. 8 decently sized pieces.
The pork bun left a little to be desired. The pork wasn't especially flavorful, but I wasn't looking for the world's best pork bun so this will do for a decent lunch option. I'll be back.
Came back here last Friday with a friend and had to take off a star. The sushi here continues to kick ass (the salmon and avocado roll was so fresh it was ridiculous, and the Myrtle Lover roll was the awesome-st, hugest roll ever with seriously like 10 ingredients), and the shrimp tempura ramen was pretty good and had super creamy broth.
However, our service wasn't great. We had a bunch of different people waiting on us, and while they were all nice, one of them spilled my friend's sake and never brought us any more. She also never returned to the table. We ended up having to pay for our sake that we never got to finish because it was spilled– not awesome.
I still love the food, though!
Really want to give this place a better review. 🙁
The space is super cute. Chalkboards with intricate designs on the walls. Booth and table settings that are comfy.
The food is average. We got take out of Spicy Tonkatsu, a naruto roll, with a three roll lunch combo. Everything was decent. The broth was really yummy and the pickled egg was perfect!
The service leaves a lot to be desired. On that take out order they didn't give us the shumai, miso salad or soup that comes with the lunch combo. So we called and told them and they gave us a credit…everything is great so far. So two days later we decide to get ramen and sushi again and to use our credit. They remember us cause of my OC phone number, but wouldn't give us the credit cause it isn't in their system. Sorry, whaaaat?? Essentially they said they wouldn't honor the credit, so we said fine can we order anyway…and after ten minutes of trying to put in an order we gave up and ended up getting Thai food from their competators across the street. 🙁
Such a shame cause their rolls and ramen weren't bad.
So the first time I had food from here I wasn't exactly pleased, I ordered takeout and it was just so so. Well this weekend I decided to give this place another chance, and wow what a difference! The food was substantially better than the takeout, everything was fresh and our waiter was super friendly. I ordered a teriyaki tofu bento box and replace the California rolls for eel avocado rolls. My friend got some form of ramen, it was super spicy and he enjoyed it. This is a spot that I plan to frequent, it is fairly close to where I live and the sushi is good. What's not to love?
I went to Waza with a friend because I was stressed about finals, carb loading for the day, and extremely hungry. As soon as we walked in, we were seated, and I promptly ordered a beer. Because.
I've passed this place many times but never considered stopping inside. I'm glad I got to try their ramen, which was really filling – I couldn't even finish the whole bowl. The vegetable ramen came with an amazing variety of veggies, from broccoli to squash and carrot, and it was so perfectly seasoned. First non -"college student struggle Maruchan" ramen experience was great!
Really good sushi at reasonable prices. Had the heart and soul roll and miso and my friend got ramen and a tuna roll. She says the pork was tender with perfect spices. The sushi was good quality and I would go back again.
Oh me gee. My sister was craving sushi today so we stopped here for the first time on our way home. I ordered takeout; Shrimp Tempura Ramen for just $10 and she ordered eel sushi. The Shrimp Tempura was crispy, hot, and tasty and my a Ramen was equally delicious. The Ramen bowl is very filling because it has lots if noodles and veggies so I'm stuffed. The decor is cute with chalk drawings on the walls and their staff moves quickly. I am impressed.
The sushi was good, the service was good too, but were surprised when our bill came to over $70 before tip for two of us on a Monday.
We ate two appetizers, one miso soup, 2 green teas, 2 special rolls, 6 pieces of sashimi (salmon is farmed, mackerel dry) and a simple spicy tuna roll.
Probably was about $20 more than we thought the experience was worth. The spicy tuna wasn't the greatest quality, mushed up fish with a lot of crispy bits. The yellowtail ceviche was sparse in hindsight.
The ninja roll was good but was it worth the price? Not really.
Service was good, not overly attentive or outstanding. Our waitress changed midway without warning, after we ate our table was left uncleared and not cleaned.
Gave it a shot but won't return.
