I am not sure what happened here based on some of the great reviews… I came on a Tuesday night around 9pm and the place was packed, but only had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. I was starving at this point and anything would have tasted good…
To start we ordered the crab cakes and also the brussel sprouts. The crab cakes were ok, a little lacking on flavor, and the brussel sprouts were also just okay. Seemed kind of plain and super mushy. It might be a personal preference, but I felt like they were the kind i get during lunch at a hot buffet.
I ordered the veggie burger for my main since a friend had mentioned it was delicious and my friend ordered the pork chop..both came with side salads. The veggie burder was ok, seemed to be lacking salt? or a sauce? or lettuce? or tomato? and then the side salad was super lame, plain, and limp to say the least. The pork chop seemed to be burnt to char which did not taste great and my friend only ate half. It seemed like everything was just lacking flavor, maybe it was just an off night???
Needless to say I will not be back for dinner anytime soon, I do hear good things about brunch? So perhaps I will try it for breakfast? Thoughts questions anyone have this experience???
Waited for about 20 min to get a table outside
The steak and eggs I ordered was over cooked a little – it was more a medium than medium rare. However I'm still giving it 5 stars as the steak was brilliantly done.
The potato hash wad surprising as it was more like mash potato – so I was a little confused. The taste thou was amazing.
My friend also liked her avocado toast.
The puppy enjoyed watching us eat. x
Small intimate place with tasty, fresh food and great customer service!
We went on a chilly rainy day and had to wait outside for a table because place was full inside, therefore, no space to wait inside. Other than that, cute place and yummy drinks.
I underestimated Westville. I really did. I thought it would be just another lame-o brunch place–but I was wrong! Westville is friggin delicious. First of all, they serve brunch well into the afternoon. Craving eggs and toast at 2pm? Or perhaps a challah french toast after that rough noon conference call? Look nowhere else!
There isn't a thing on this menu that I haven't liked. My go to are the grilled salmon platter, either ontop a salad (they're all good, trust me) or with sides (they're also all good, trust me). My go-tos are always the Zucchini with cherry tomatoes and mozzarella, and Butternut squash. Picking is just a matter of your taste buds and what you're craving, because I'm glad to say that you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Well done, Westville. Well friggin done.
I think the food is really good here. Loved the 4 market vegetable plate! Just the array of vegetables was fantastic. The arugula Parmesan salads had enough cheese and dressing to coat each piece of salad. The steak was cooked perfectly! I would definitely like to check out other locations as one of the servers said, "you guys can hang out but can you move to this table we really need this for a 5 seater." A little inconsiderate because we weren't finished with our coffee.
I came here with 3 friends. We made reservation for 4. One person was running late, and the waitress didn't want to seat us because "policy is to seat complete parties only." *rolls eyes* We had to beg her and then offer to order for the late. Finally, she seated us.
The restaurant is Manhattan small with about 10-15 tables, and the kitchen looks bigger than the dining area. The decor is okay. Nothing special. It's suitable for a friends get together but not for a first date.
I had the lemonade with prosecco. It wasn't strong at all, and it's ideally refreshing for a hot summer day. For food, I had the market vegetables with plantainas, artichokes, kale and mushrooms. The plantains were good and the mushrooms were flavorful. But this dish was too small and I left the place hungry. 🙁 For $15, this dish wasn't a good value.
Overall, I didn't find the restaurant to be special. It was another overpriced eatery in the West Village.
While walking to another brunch restaurant… We stopped here, read the menu, and decided this was better!
At about 10am on a Saturday, no wait for two. It's very small, seats probably no more than 20 people at a time. The service was friendly and fast.. They even gave us to go cups for our coffee when we left.
I ordered the California Benedict, came with a huge chunk of sourdough bread, avocado, and a green salad. My brunch babe ordered the Mediterranean breakfast… Everything was light, fresh, and focus on the veggies.
This is an excellent option for some traditional great brunch!
Pretty good! I got the market vegetable plate with 4 choices. I got the Brussels sprouts (AMAZING), pesto mashed potatoes (okay), kale (ok) and the artichoke with Parmesan (not good at all hated it actually), and got a side of chicken which was charred and tasted like burnt chicken I actually sent it back.
They have this wonderful tea that combines mint, sage, orange, lemon and ginger and they pour hot water over it – it's great!!
Overall customer service was great, and the food was pretty good I was just disappointed with the chicken, artichoke and the kale.
