Whippany Diner
“My husband and I take special trips out here about once a year to get the chicken parm and my absolute, ABSOLUTE favorite Greek lemon soup.”
“The greens were fresh and crisp, the balsamic dressing was light, and the pieces of freshly made garlic bread were a nice accompaniment.”
“Although we haven't dined here for dinner, the Whippany Diner is always a top choice of ours for a quick breakfast or lunch.”

Not quite sure how I feel about this one…
Our server was at moments spot-on, while at other times she made us feel as if we were hiding in plain sight.
Big fan of the steak fries.
Onion rings were heavily breaded and fried to a crisp.
Child hot dogs were enormous. Both kids said they were the biggest hot dogs they'd ever seen. Then they devoured them.
Salad wraps were pretty good.
Nicely cooked omelettes.
Sat for quite a while after waiting to wrap it up. Miscommunication getting our check. Nobody at the register–waited 5-10 minutes to pay.
Above average diner fare.
Spotty service.
Reasonably priced.
I'd be hesitant to order their seafood or "specialty" items.
I went to the Whippany Diner, for a business meeting, over lunch. I was pleasantly surprised. Although it seems small, as you enter, there is plenty of room for all their satisfied customers. I chose their Baby Greens Salad, with an individual can of tuna on top, and it didn't disappoint. I'm trying to watch what I eat, and this certainly was not a compromise. It was delicious! The greens were fresh and crisp, the balsamic dressing was light, and the pieces of freshly made garlic bread were a nice accompaniment.
Service was very good. Attentive but never intrusive. This will also be a destination for my family and me.
Strong, freshly brewed coffee; hot, heaping portions of the usual diner fair along with seasonal specials, such as pumpkin pancakes; and exceptionally friendly, efficient service.
Very good coffee and decent food. The server was lost in space though – forgot my rolls, forgot my salad until I was 3/4 done with my meal. But she was nice and I am okay eating salad anytime during the meal. Had the fish and it was a very large portion and well priced. The 7 layer cake is to be avoided as I read in someone's post. 4 inches of sweet frosting and an inch of cake….where are the famous pies I used to find in NJ Diners? Would eat here again though.
Snappy service! I love getting my food in under ten minutes…when I'm hungry, I'm hungry!
The Whippany Diner is small compared to other local Jersey diners, but they have ample parking, fast service, good prices and excellent diner food.
I LOVED their hot dogs and curly fries (yes, I ordered two hot dogs).
My boyfriend and I had an event to attend in Parsippany, New Jersey with new friends that I made. On our first night, we were in search for a restaurant for dinner and luckily, I did my research and was attracted to Whippany Diner.
In my opinion, Whippany Diner was a tad small for a diner. It was a Saturday night and when we arrived, seats were filled and we waited for approximately 5-10 minutes. It was the 5 of us and after a table filled up, we were seated right away.
Our server was super friendly and nice. We all ordered different meals and my boyfriend ordered a Chicken Francese over rice, while I ordered the Chef's Special – Tilapia Francese over rice.
Garden salad was very refreshing and yummy. No complaints.
When the tilapia francese arrived it looked a lot like chicken francese. The portion size was smaller than what I usually get. As I started eating my dish, I was in total bliss! This is because it was my first time having tilapia and oh man, it was light and tender and tasted so perfectly with the sauce. The sauce was very rich and you can really taste the lemon-ness in it. The rice was well-cooked. So guess what? I ended up cleaning out the whole plate which was a FIRST! I was super hungry and the dish was just beyond superb! It was truly the best diner dish I've had so far!
Since my meal was a Chef Special, I also got a dessert – Strawberry Ice Cream.
Although, service was a little slow and the diner is small — I really couldn't think of one negative aspect about the restaurant. Everyone is just so friendly here and food quality was up-to-par! This is definitely a diner I would recommend to people.
Not many places are opened late during the week. So I was happy to find this diner. The food was great and so was the service.
