  1. The first time I tried their pretzels I was starving and said wow these are good. They were soft and not too salty. The 2nd time I tried them they were just how I remembered them and thought, wow they really put some effort into those pretzels especially for under $3.

Located inside the Staten Island terminal they also sell ice-cream and other little knick-knacks. The pretzels come in different flavors like cinnamon sugar but both times I visited I just had the plain with salt.  I wish they had the raisin pretzel with cinnamon icing. I didn't encounter any rude staff but didn't ask any questions (there was no need).

I prefer these pretzels than the ones they sell outside in the cart that are usually cold and hard. I will definitely come back and get my pretzel fix. You can't beat that price or taste for us pretzel lovers.

  2. I'm all about fine dining in NYC. After getting off of the Staten Island Ferry and finishing the Five Boro Bike tour, I was starving. I saw Whitehall Pretzel and Ice Cream Inc. in the Staten Island Ferry terminal and made a beeline for some pretzel dogs. I walked up to the counter and saw no pretzel dogs. Instead I saw Pretzel Pups, pointed to them and said, "I'll take one of those." It was the closest thing to a pretzel dog and I needed some meat.

The Pretzel Pup was huge. Usually I eat two pretzel dogs but one Pretzel Pup would be enough for me. The outside dough was buttery and had a few sesame seeds. It was like a bagel dog more than a pretzel dog. The beef hot dog inside was salty but warm and was the closest thing to real food I had all day. I had been feasting on power bars and cheese crackers and I'm pretty sure I burned all those away already. I finished my Pretzel Pup fast and decided I wanted an almond pretzel. The almond pretzel was good but more on the buttery side than the sweet side. BTW, the ice cream being sold was Ciao Bella.

In the land of Pretzel Time and Auntie Anne's, Whitehall Pretzel and Ice Cream Inc. lies somewhere in the middle. I'm just glad they were at the Staten Island Terminal and provided me with some sustenance before my long cold wet commute home.

  3. Not bad. I was starving (as Rachel A.) writes after searching and walking around everywhere to find the ferry.

I ordered a pup dog (pretzel with hot dog inside) and it was piping hot and fresh! The bread was still soft and buttery and the hot dog had just the right amount of saltyness. For $3.50, not bad, especially at a tourist hot spot!
