  1. After a morning jog, I would on occasion stop by to get a tea to take out to the water, where I'd recoup and prepare myself for the day. It wasn't until I dropped in for a bite to eat, that I realized what a terrible business it was.
It's a huge space, perfect for people who need to quickly drop in to grab a drink or bite to eat.   There's quite an eclectic group of people both on weekdays and weekends- From mothers who are waiting for their child's gymnastics class at Chelsea Piers to end, to the older couple who needs a break from the sun whilst strolling down West Side Highway. They have plenty of seating, on the ground floor, second level, and outside.

However, the service and food could not have been any more of a disappointment.
The sandwiches weren't heated up thoroughly. And we had to wait about 20 minutes for two sandwiches, and this was not during their peak busy hours.

They seemed to be closed recently, but it might only be for renovations.

Only swing by if you are in dire need of a bottle of water. Nothing more.

  2. A great salad.  Fresh ingredients — tasty combination.  I had the chicken salad sandwich as a salad.  My friends enjoy the tuna sandwich and goat cheese sandwich.  They loved them as much as I enjoyed my salad.

Beautiful view of the Pier.  Solid lunch spot.

Recommendation — GF bread selections would be great for those that need it.

  3. I went there a few times during my NYC trip for Fourth of July as they were conveniently located on the pier.

Sandwiches were great – no complaints at all here. Same sammie menu as their SF location.

But the A/C was too cold and they didn't have the delicious cookie sandwiches that they carry in their SF store.

  4. These sandwiches are very tasty.  For less than $10, it is a good value for NYC.  You order at the counter and then they call your name when it is ready. There is indoor and outside seating.  We had an egg sandwich and a goat cheese sandwich that were both excellent. It is nice to share a variety of sandwiches with a friend.  They have cookies too at the counter. Bottled beverages for your selection.  IF in the area, and hungry I would eat here again.

  5. Chelsea Piers is notoriously minimal when it comes to providing decent food options. So you'd think that Wichcraft would make the most of its virtual monopoly on casual dining. Instead, it's proof that monopolies are bad for consumers.

I came at an off hour, and maybe that's why the staff seemed so curt and inattentive. The coffee tasted as if it had been brewed in the distant past. Nothing looked clean or even tidy. I would be amazed if owner Tom Colicchio is even aware of this location. If he were, he'd have to apologize to every Top Chef contestant he ever criticized.

On a positive note, the space is high-ceilinged, bright, and spacious. On the second floor, you'll find a couch-filled lounge with a great view. I recommend holing up there while you wait for your kid to finish bowling/skating/jumping into pits of brightly colored balls.

  6. Decent food served however overpriced. Perhaps due to the location, being Chelsea Piers, they up the prices but still. Friendy service.
