We shared the antipasto, 2 pizzas and enjoyed the Sancerre wine and sat outside. There was a man singing jazz and the wait staff was great.
It was a little pricey for what it was, but we enjoyed the meal & ambiance.
The Spotted Pig told us we would have to wait 2.5-3 hours for a table so we decided to wander around the corner. Though pretty tiny and unassuming, Wild's outdoor specials board caught our eye. Since they were able to get us in quickly and away from the cold, it seemed like an easy yes.
Like I said, it's tiny. It's loud, it's dark, it's cramped. But it's also homey and the staff is extremely friendly. The pizzas all start with a vegan/gluten-free crust, but you aren't limited to just veggies if you want to throw some meat on there. The pastas are also gluten-free so imagine how excited I was to finally be able to order fully gluten-free chicken parm. Granted, it was not the most delicious chicken parm I've ever had, but for gluten-free it was just fine. This and the summer sangria I was not too taken with would probably have knocked my rating down to three stars. But the pear salad we ordered as a starter was awesome – just the right prosciutto to pear to cheese ratio- and the boyfriend's salmon and mashed potatoes, which melted in my mouth with truffle-filled goodness, immediately bring the rating up again.
Not cheap…definitely wouldn't come for the drinks, but bravo on those mashed potatoes, Wild.
I'll preface this post by saying that I haven't eaten much gluten free food, but I was pleasantly surprised at how glutinous the food here tasted.
To start, my friend and I had the burrata over prosciutto which we added gluten free bread to. The burrata was good; nothing spectacular. The bread was deliciously chewy – I'd take that gluten free bread over 12 grain any day.
The personally sized truffled mushroom and arugula pizza was a decent portion for two people as a shared entree. I didn't taste much truffle or at all. The mushroom was plentiful but lacked flavor or maybe it was just salt. The gluten free pizza was thin crust and again, I couldn't recognize that it was gluten free.
The chicken parm with gluten free pasta was good. Again, the sauce lacked flavor or any salt, but the chicken was tender and the pasta tasted like perfectly al dente pasta!
Our server Paul was really great and I loved the ambience is the small restaurant. Their special rose with middle strawberry cocktail was wildly refreshing! The cheesecake covered in chocolate and nuts was probably the second most flavorful item I had here.
Their summertini is sooooo refreshing! They were able to accomdate our big group of 10 last Tuesday which was great because we didn't have much luck finding places in that area. I ended up ordering the quinoa salad which was pretty bland. I wish I had a little bit more salt and pepper or maybe a dressing to go with it. It was filing but just okay.
Staff was friendly although our waiter kept yelling, he said he just wanted to make sure we all could hear him. There were only 2 more tables being used in the restaurant so we would have heard him anyway. He did check in a few times on the table to make sure that everything was okay.
I would like to come back and try other dishes as well. I wasn't really hungry that night which is why I went with the salad. Decent place for sure.
First time I went there was in Spring 2014. I enjoyed the Sangria outside but I tihnk that the Margarita is a little bit to watery instead of behind full with the drink itself. I believe they put too many ice inside. The place is cool and the area is nice and I believe I will come back just for the terrace but I am not a big fan. It's too bad because it has a lot of potential.
I seriously cannot get enough of this place. The pizza-fanatic buried deep inside me died a little when I had to stop eating wheat. And so now I gratify her by going to Wild as often as possible. It's a pretty sweet deal.
Love this place!
Came on a Sunday night, it was a warm new york evening, it was just amazing that they have outdoor seating.
Even if we are sitting outside, the service was really awesome we never felt neglected.
Food we ordered:
– Soup of the day ($7): Butternut squash SO GOOD!
– BBQ chicken pizza ($14) : really good, amount of bbq sauce on point
– Wild Mushroom Truffle penne ($16): i would definitely recommend this dish, it's a must try, I love the truffle in the penne, and they also give you a lot of mushrooms (i loveee) – it is also kind of in the more oily side but i love it. The portion is also great it will definitely fill you up
When i come next time i will try to sit inside, it is super cozy and smells so good of food! Will also check out the vegan options next time!
This restaurant is a total find!
First thoughts: outdoor seating for those perfect summer brunches!! Totally have to do Sunday brunch here! The inside decor is lovely. Very cute rustic theme.
Full wine bar. Yummy selection. And great speciality drinks menu.
I tired the BBQ chicken pizza. SO delicccciiiouusss! The mushroom truffle pizza to die for! Super recommend.
My friend ordered fresh lemonade and really enjoyed it.
I saw some negative comments regarding the service. I must say I had not only a pleasant server but also a very attentive one too.
Highly recommend for all those gluten free people. I even recommend for non-gluten free people.
Can't wait to go back!
